Telstra Wholesale CTS Has No Replacement. Summit Does.

Summit is a licensed carrier with wholesale call termination, number hosting and inbound origination over SIP, and a team that understands what your platform needs.

Overview

Telstra Wholesale CTS gave carriage service providers, VoIP and UC platforms, MSPs and MVNOs a way to host numbers and terminate calls across Telstra's network. Telstra Wholesale describes it as "a both-way call termination service delivered over Session Initiation Protocol Trunk (SIP Trunk) technology connecting your SIP based calling platform to Telstra's BroadWorks IP telephony calling platform."

Telstra Wholesale CTS Date
National stop sell 30 September 2025
Scheduled national exit 30 September 2026

Telstra Wholesale's own exit page is direct about what comes next: "Telstra Wholesale do not have a replacement product for Wholesale CTS. Please contact your Service Manager for advice on arranging the porting out of your numbers before the exit date."

For many providers that meant a rushed port to whichever carrier could take the numbers in time. Others consolidated onto a single remaining supplier, giving up the second path that kept their platform resilient. If either describes your network today, it is worth a second look.

Summit Internet is an ACMA licensed carrier (Carrier Licence #388) that builds, owns and operates its own voice network. We supply wholesale Australian fixed and mobile termination, international termination, number hosting and DIDs, inbound origination and number porting, connected over SIP across the internet or by private interconnect. Summit is not affiliated with Telstra.

Key Benefits

  • A Carrier, Not a Reseller of a Reseller

Your traffic lands on a network we own and run. When a route misbehaves, you are talking to the engineers who can see it and change it, not lodging a ticket that gets passed upstream.

  • Termination Where Your Customers Call

Australian fixed and mobile termination for the bulk of your traffic, plus international termination for the rest, on one wholesale relationship and one invoice.

  • Number Hosting and Inbound Origination

Host your DIDs with Summit and receive inbound calls to your platform, so numbers and termination sit with the same carrier rather than being split across suppliers.

  • Porting Support for Number Ranges

Moving ranges off a retiring service is where providers lose time. We help plan and lodge ports for your number blocks so they arrive on Summit in an orderly sequence.

  • A Second Path for Resilience

If losing CTS left you single-homed, Summit can sit alongside your existing carrier as a second termination route, so one supplier's bad day is not your platform's outage.

  • Connect the Way Your Platform Does

SIP over the internet with IP authentication for a fast start, or a private interconnect or cross-connect where you want traffic off the public internet.

  • People Who Know Wholesale Voice

You deal with a team that understands SIP signalling, CLI presentation, codecs and capacity planning, and can talk to your engineers in their language.

How It Works

  1. 1 Request wholesale rates

Tell us about your platform, the destinations you terminate to, your monthly minutes and the numbers you host.

  2. 2 Technical discovery

Our wholesale team talks through interconnect options, codecs, capacity, CLI requirements and your porting needs with your engineers.

  3. 3 Interconnect and testing

We provision your SIP interconnect over the internet or a private connection, and test call flows in both directions before any live traffic moves.

  4. 4 Port and migrate traffic

We help sequence the porting of your number ranges and the shift of outbound traffic, so you can move in controlled stages rather than all at once.

  5. 5 Ongoing wholesale support

You keep a direct line to our team for capacity changes, new ranges and route issues.

Use Cases

  • The UC Platform That Ported in a Hurry

A cloud UC provider moved its number ranges off CTS to the first carrier that could take them before the exit date. Now it wants a carrier it chose deliberately. Summit takes over number hosting and termination in stages, testing each range before traffic moves.

  • The CSP That Went Single-Homed

A carriage service provider used to split traffic between CTS and a second supplier. With CTS gone, everything runs through one carrier. Summit becomes the second termination path, restoring the redundancy the provider had before.

  • The MSP Adding Voice to Its Stack

A managed service provider wants to offer hosted voice to its clients without building carrier relationships from scratch. Summit supplies hosted numbers, origination and termination over a single SIP interconnect.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more
