Telstra Business SIP Is Closed to New Customers. Plan Your Next SIP Trunk on Your Terms.
Telstra stopped selling Business SIP on 30 May 2025. Keep the phone system you have, move your SIP trunks to Summit's own voice network, and have the local numbers on your Telstra service ported free. Our dedicated migration team plans the move around your contract date.
One-time offer for Telstra customers
Free local number porting when you move your Telstra Business SIP service
Offer: free porting of local (geographic) numbers attached to your Telstra service when you move to a Summit voice plan. 1300, 1800 and 13 numbers excluded. Expires 30 August 2027 unless extended.
Overview
Telstra Business SIP connects a business phone system to the phone network over broadband: voice lines over a SIP trunk, single numbers or 100-number in-dial ranges, and a Telstra SIP network termination unit on site. Telstra's customer terms state that "On and from 30 May 2025, Telstra Business SIP is not available for purchase by any new customers. Existing customers may continue to use their Business SIP service on existing terms until further notice."
| Telstra Business SIP | Status |
|---|---|
| New customers | Not available from 30 May 2025 |
| Existing customers | Continue on existing terms "until further notice" |
| Announced exit date | None published |
To be clear about what that means: your Business SIP service has not been given a switch-off date, and Telstra's terms still allow existing customers to add voice lines and extend their term. Nothing forces you to move today.
What it does mean is that you are on a product Telstra no longer sells, with continuity described only as "until further notice". Telstra has set exit dates for several other business voice products, including T-Biz Voice, DOT and Telstra Calling for Office 365, as well as Wholesale CTS. The best time to choose your next SIP provider is before you need to, ideally lined up with your contract end date, a phone system upgrade or an office move.
Summit SIP trunks connect the phone system you already own to our own voice network (ACMA Carrier Licence #388). Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Telstra.
Key Benefits
-
Keep the Phone System You Already Own
SIP trunks replace the carrier, not the phone system. Your PBX, handsets, extensions and call flows stay exactly as they are; only the trunk behind them changes.
-
Free Local Number Porting
Move your Business SIP service to Summit and we port the local numbers attached to your Telstra service with no porting fee, including your in-dial ranges. A one-time offer for Telstra customers, available until 30 August 2027 unless extended.
-
Calls on a Network We Own
Your trunks connect to infrastructure Summit builds, owns and operates. When call quality needs investigating, we look at our own network instead of raising a ticket with a wholesaler.
-
Voice Priority When We Supply the Internet Too
Business SIP needs a broadband service you buy separately. Put your SIP trunks on a Summit internet connection and we prioritise voice traffic across our network, so calls stay clear when the office is busy.
-
Scale Lines Up and Down
Start with as few as two channels and add more as you grow. Changing capacity is a configuration change, not a new install.
-
Move on Your Contract Date
Telstra's terms set an early termination charge if you cancel during a contract term. Our migration team works out your timing so the cutover lands at the end of your term, not in the middle of it.
-
Or Retire the PBX Altogether
If your phone system is due for replacement anyway, move straight to Summit hosted PBX or Microsoft Teams Calling and your numbers come across under the same offer.

We set up your SIP trunk, configure your number presentation and test with your phone system before any numbers move. New handsets, if you need them, arrive preconfigured.

Port on the day you choose, with migration support
Your local numbers and in-dial ranges port to Summit on a scheduled cutover day. We test inbound and outbound calls with you, then tell you what to cancel with Telstra and when. Do not cancel first: a disconnected number can no longer be ported.

We recently moved our dental practice over to Summit for phone services, and the experience has been excellent from start to finish. The team has been responsive, professional, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire setup process. The transition was smooth, any issues were addressed promptly, and communication was always clear and efficient. Reliable phones and internet are essential for a busy practice like ours, and Summit has delivered exactly that. A special thank you to Michael for his patience and ongoing assistance during the transition. Highly recommend Summit to any business looking for reliable service and great customer support.Read more

After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more
