Summit Internet
Mobile

Twenty Phones or Two Hundred, One Account and One Contact.

A mobile fleet stops being a phone plan and becomes an admin problem somewhere around the tenth service. Summit runs your fleet on one account with pooled data across every SIM, the numbers and SIMs held as company assets, and a real person to ring instead of a retail queue.

Overview

Businesses rarely decide to have a mobile fleet. They end up with one.

You start with a couple of services, then add a phone for every new starter, a data SIM for a tablet, a spare for the ute. Some were bought in a retail store, some online, a few are still in a former employee's name, and two are on plans that were competitive four years ago. Nobody has looked at the total in a while, and nobody could tell you which numbers you actually own.

Past about ten services, the cost of a mobile fleet is not really the plan price. It is the administration: chasing a SIM for a new starter who begins Monday, working out whether the number a departing employee has been using belongs to them or to you, reconciling a bill with services nobody recognises, and dealing with a carrier whose only support path is the same queue a consumer uses.

Summit's approach is to treat the fleet as one thing. Every service sits on one account, alongside your office internet and phone system, with data pooled across the SIMs so the light users subsidise the heavy ones instead of you paying twice. You get one bill, one place to make changes and one contact who knows your business.

Key Benefits

  • Pooled Data Across the Whole Fleet

The reason fleets overspend is that usage is never evenly distributed. A handful of staff use a lot of data, most use very little, and if each service has its own allowance you pay for the unused portion of every light user while the heavy ones tip into excess.

Pooling changes the arithmetic. Data is shared across your services, so the fleet is sized on total consumption rather than on a worst-case guess per person. Banked plans, where unused data rolls forward, are available where that suits your usage pattern better.

  • Australia's Biggest Mobile Network

Your fleet runs on Australia's biggest mobile network with 98.8% population coverage. That matters most for the people who are never in the office: field staff, drivers, technicians and anyone working across the metropolitan spread and out into regional areas.

  • The SIMs and Numbers Stay Yours

This is the problem most businesses discover at the worst possible time. When a service is in an employee's name, or was bought on a personal account and expensed, the number goes with them when they leave. Then a customer who has been calling that mobile for three years is calling a former employee.

On a Summit account the services are the company's. When someone leaves you reassign the SIM and keep the number. When someone starts, they get a service that already belongs to you.

  • Adds, Moves and Changes Without a Queue

Fleets change constantly: a new starter, a leaver, a replacement SIM for a lost phone, an eSIM for a new device, a plan that needs resizing. Those are routine requests that should take minutes, and with us they go to someone who can action them rather than into a general support queue.

  • One Bill With the Rest of Your Services

Your mobile fleet appears on the same bill as your internet, phone system and 1300 numbers. One invoice to approve, one account to reconcile and one number to ring when something is wrong, rather than a separate carrier relationship that nobody owns internally.

  • Bringing Your Existing Fleet Across

Moving a fleet is the part businesses put off, usually because they imagine every number being at risk. We manage the port, we schedule it, and we do it in stages if that suits you better than moving everything on one day. Numbers you currently hold come across; services sitting in personal names are the ones worth sorting out while you are at it, and we will tell you which those are.

How It Works

  1. 1 We audit what you actually have

Send us a recent bill or two. We will tell you how many services you are paying for, how much data the fleet actually uses against what you are buying, and which numbers are not in your business's name. This part frequently finds services nobody knew were still active.

  2. 2 We size the pool on real usage

Rather than a per-person allowance based on a guess, we size the shared pool on your fleet's actual consumption, with headroom for growth. If banked data suits your pattern better than pooling, we will say so.

  3. 3 We port the fleet

We manage the porting of your existing numbers, scheduled around your business and in stages if you prefer. SIMs are shipped ahead of the cutover, and eSIM is available for supported devices.

  4. 4 You get one contact for changes

New starters, leavers, SIM swaps, plan changes and replacements go to a person who can action them, alongside the rest of your Summit services.

Use Cases

  • Trades and Field Service Fleets

Every technician has a phone and often a tablet, they are never at a desk, and the fleet turns over as staff come and go. Pooled data suits the pattern, since a technician using maps and job software all day sits alongside an office coordinator who barely touches their allowance.

    Tradies
  • Care and Support Providers

A workforce that spends its day in other people's homes needs data that works there, and a high staff turnover makes company-held SIMs genuinely valuable. Reassigning a SIM to a new support worker beats issuing a new number every time.

    NDIS Providers
  • Transport and Logistics

Drivers, depot staff and allocators all on one fleet, with data pooled so a driver running navigation and proof-of-delivery all shift does not push you into excess while the depot's spare handsets sit idle.

    Transport & Logistics
  • Multi-Site and Franchise Groups

Where each site has historically bought its own phones, consolidating onto one account usually produces both a saving and a much shorter conversation at reconciliation time. Sites keep their numbers; you get one bill.

  • Growing Teams

If you are hiring, the fleet is going to keep changing. Having one contact who can turn a new starter's service around quickly is worth more than a marginally cheaper plan you have to administer yourself.

Why Choose Summit for Your Mobile Fleet

  • 01

We Look at the Bill Before We Quote

An audit of what you are already paying for is the most useful hour in this process, and it often finds active services for people who left, or a fleet buying twice the data it uses. We would rather start there than quote against your current plan and call the difference a saving.

  • 02

One Provider Across Mobile, Internet and Voice

Summit provides your office internet, phone system, inbound numbers and mobile fleet on one account and one bill. When a problem crosses two of those, which it usually does, there is one carrier accountable rather than two pointing at each other.

  • 03

    A Contact, Not a Queue

Routine fleet changes should not require an hour on hold. You get a person who knows your account, and if you need to escalate, you can.

  • 04

    An Independent Carrier Since 2000

Summit has been an independent Australian carrier since August 2000, holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not a reseller badge on somebody else's plan list, and we have been doing this long enough to have moved a lot of fleets between a lot of carriers.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Frequently asked questions

How many services do we need before a fleet arrangement makes sense?
There is no hard threshold, but the administrative pain usually starts around ten services and the case for pooled data gets stronger the more uneven your usage is. If you have five services and one heavy user, pooling can still be worth it. Send us a bill and we will tell you honestly whether it changes anything for you.
How does pooled data actually work?
Instead of each service having its own allowance, your services draw from a shared pool sized on the fleet's total usage. A heavy user drawing more than an average share is offset by the majority who use very little, so you buy for the fleet's real consumption rather than for a worst case repeated across every service.
What happens to a number when an employee leaves?
On a Summit account the service belongs to your business, so you keep the number and reassign the SIM to whoever replaces them. This is the single most common problem we fix when a fleet comes across: services in personal names, with numbers that customers have been calling for years, walking out the door.
Can we port our existing numbers across?
Yes, and we manage it. Numbers your business holds port across, and we can stage the move rather than doing everything on one day if that suits you. Services currently in an employee's personal name need that person's authority to port, which is exactly why it is worth fixing now rather than later.
Can we mix handsets, tablets and data-only devices in one fleet?
Yes. Voice services, tablets and data-only SIMs all sit on the one account and can draw from the same data pool. For a fleet made up mostly of unattended devices rather than staff, our Mobile IoT service is usually the better fit, and Mobile Broadband covers data-only SIMs for tablets and laptops.
Do you supply mobile handsets?
No. Summit does not supply mobile handsets. Our plans are BYO device: you bring your existing unlocked phones and tablets, or buy them outright or through your usual supplier, and we supply the SIM or eSIM and the service. Nothing about a fleet on Summit depends on where the hardware came from, and you are not tied to a handset repayment when you want to change plans.
So Summit doesn't sell phones at all?
Mobile handsets, no. Desk phones, yes, and it is worth not confusing the two. For the office phone system we supply and pre-configure VoIP desk handsets, DECT cordless handsets, reception consoles and conference phones, ready to plug in, and we can work with compatible IP phones you already own. That is Hosted PBX. It is mobile handsets specifically that we do not sell.
Can we get 5G?
Yes, on supported plans and devices. Coverage is on Australia's biggest mobile network, reaching 98.8% of the population on 4G, with 5G in the areas where it has been deployed.
Can different sites or departments be billed separately?
Talk to us about how you need the bill broken up. Cost allocation across sites, departments or cost centres is a common requirement, particularly for franchise groups and multi-site organisations, and it is easier to set up at the start than to unpick later.
