Overview

Zip Connect is an Australian provider of business communications. It sells a hosted cloud PBX phone system, SIP trunks for existing phone systems, Microsoft Teams integration and phone packages that bundle VoIP desk phones with numbers and SIP lines, as well as nbn business internet and business fibre.

Businesses review their phone provider for plenty of reasons: a contract is ending, the team is moving office, or they want their phones and the internet connection those phones depend on to come from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and Microsoft Teams Calling, plus business nbn with a static IP, 4G backup and business mobiles, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Zip Connect.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording, and mobile and desktop apps.

  • Handsets Ready to Plug In

If your team uses desk phones, we can preconfigure handsets and ship them to your office, so they work as soon as they are plugged in.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Have

If you run your own phone system, our SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

Make and take external calls in Teams through Direct Routing with Teams Calling. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep the licensing arrangement you already have.

  • Voice Prioritised on Our Own Network

When your internet connection is also with Summit, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS across a network we build, own and operate, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard.

  • Internet, Phones and Mobile on One Bill

Add business nbn with a static IP included, Ethernet over fibre, 4G backup with automatic failover and business mobile SIM plans, all on one bill from one carrier.

  • Inbound Numbers and Extras

Keep or add 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging alongside your phone system.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share how many users, numbers and handsets you have, whether you use a hosted PBX, your own phone system on SIP trunks or Teams, and when your current agreement ends.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend the right mix of Hosted PBX, SIP trunks or Teams Calling, plus internet and backup if you want them, and send you a clear quote.

  3. 3 Set up and test

We build your call flows, ring groups and voicemail, and preconfigure and ship any handsets, so everything is ready before your numbers move.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your Zip Connect service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Go live

Once your numbers arrive, calls ring on Summit. Only then should you arrange to cancel your old service.

We do not sell residential services. Our plans, support and network are designed for businesses, and have been for 26 years.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Zip Connect?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier, holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Zip Connect in any way.
Why switch if my Zip Connect service is working?
If your current service does everything you need, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, when they are moving office, or when they want their phones and internet from one business-only carrier on one bill.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on the terms of your agreement with Zip Connect. Check your contract end date and any exit fees, and we can time your switch to line up with the end of your contract.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
In most cases, yes. We port your existing numbers to Summit. Keep your Zip Connect service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
Yes. If you run your own phone system, our SIP trunks connect it to our network, starting from 2 channels. If you would rather move to the cloud, our Hosted PBX replaces on-site hardware.
What about my desk phones?
We can preconfigure handsets and ship them to your office ready to plug in. Talk to us about whether your current handsets can be used with our service.
Can I make calls from Microsoft Teams?
Yes. Teams Calling uses Direct Routing to connect Teams to our voice network. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep your existing Microsoft arrangement.
Do I need to move my internet to Summit too?
No, but it helps. Our phone services work over other connections, and when your internet is also with Summit, voice traffic is prioritised on our network. We offer business nbn with a static IP included and 4G backup for automatic failover.
How do I get started?
Request a quote or call 1300 049 749. Tell us about your users, numbers and contract end date, and we will plan the move around it.
