Overview

Zintel provides business inbound number services: 1300 and 1800 numbers with custom numbers, call routing and reporting, managed through the Zintel portal. Over the Wire bought the Australian and New Zealand voice businesses of J2 Global in 2020, which brought Zintel back to the voice market, and Aussie Broadband completed its acquisition of Over the Wire on 15 March 2022. Aussie Broadband now says Zintel is part of Aussie Broadband, and that existing customers' 1300 and 1800 numbers remain unchanged with no action required.

A change of ownership is a natural point to check that your services still fit. Businesses also review their provider when a contract is ending, when they are moving office, or when they want their inbound numbers, phone system and internet from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers 1300 and 1800 numbers, a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and Microsoft Teams Calling, alongside business nbn and fibre, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Zintel or Aussie Broadband.

How Summit Helps

  • Your 1300 and 1800 Numbers, Ported Across

We can port your existing 1300 and 1800 numbers to Summit, so the numbers on your website, signage and advertising stay the same. We also look after fax to email and on-hold messaging.

  • Inbound Calls Answered by a Full Phone System

Route your inbound numbers into Hosted PBX, our cloud phone system, from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

Keeping your existing PBX? Point your inbound numbers at SIP trunks that start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Calls in Microsoft Teams

Make and receive calls, including calls to your inbound numbers, in Microsoft Teams through Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licences, as Summit does not resell them.

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. We work only with businesses, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • Voice Prioritised on Our Network

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS, so calls are not competing with downloads and cloud backups. Business nbn comes with a static IP included.

  • Backup That Fails Over Automatically

4G Backup switches to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) if your primary link drops, and fails back automatically when it returns, so your phones keep ringing.

  • One Bill for Internet, Phones and Mobile

Bring your inbound numbers, phone system, internet and business mobile plans together with one carrier and one bill.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your 1300 and 1800 numbers, how calls are routed today, any phone system you use and your contract end dates.

  2. 2 Get a clear quote

We recommend the right setup, whether that is Hosted PBX, SIP trunks or Teams Calling, and put it in writing.

  3. 3 Set up your routing

We build your call flows, queues and answer points on Summit while your existing service keeps running.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port for your existing numbers. Keep your Zintel service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old service

Once your numbers have moved and calls are arriving where they should, you cancel your previous service.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Zintel?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Zintel or Aussie Broadband.
Why switch if my Zintel service is working?
If your current service does everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually talk to us when a contract is ending, when they are moving office, or when they want their inbound numbers, phone system and internet with one business-only carrier.
Can I keep my 1300 and 1800 numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.
How long does porting take?
It depends on the numbers involved. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days. Your calls keep arriving through your existing service until the port completes.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with your current provider. Check your contract terms, and if there is a fixed term, we can time your switch to line up with its end date.
Do I need a new phone system?
Not necessarily. If you already have a PBX, we can connect it with SIP trunks. If you would rather move to the cloud, Hosted PBX includes every feature and we can preconfigure and ship your handsets.
Can my inbound calls ring in Microsoft Teams?
Yes. With Teams Calling via Direct Routing, calls can be answered in Teams. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep the licences you already have.
Do I have to move my internet to Summit as well?
No. You can move just your numbers and phones. If your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS and everything sits on one bill.
