Overview

Vonex sells cloud phone systems to Australian businesses, including hosted PBX, SIP trunks, Microsoft Teams Voice and virtual phone systems, alongside business nbn, business fibre, 4G and 5G wireless broadband and business mobile SIM plans. Vonex was listed on the ASX until MaxoTel acquired it under a scheme approved by the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 9 October 2025: Vonex's last day of trading was 9 October 2025, MaxoTel became the sole shareholder of Vonex's telecommunications business on 20 October 2025 and Vonex was delisted on 21 October 2025. Vonex has said it will continue to operate under the Vonex brand.

A change of ownership is a natural point to check that your services still fit. Businesses also review their provider when a contract is ending, when they are moving office, or when they want internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and Microsoft Teams Calling, together with business nbn with a static IP, Ethernet over fibre and fixed wireless across Melbourne and regional Victoria, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Vonex or MaxoTel.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. We can preconfigure your handsets and ship them to you.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

Keeping your existing PBX? SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your team lives in Teams, Teams Calling connects it to the phone network through Direct Routing, so staff make and take calls on their business numbers from Teams. You keep buying your Microsoft licences as you do now.

  • Business Internet With a Static IP

Business nbn comes with a static IP included, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. For sites that need dedicated capacity, we offer Ethernet over fibre, and in Melbourne and regional Victoria, fixed wireless across 500+ suburbs.

  • Voice Prioritised on Your Own Carrier's Network

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Our network has Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard.

  • 4G Backup for When the Line Drops

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back automatically when your main service returns.

  • Inbound Numbers, Mobiles and One Bill

Add 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email, on-hold messaging and business mobile SIM plans. Internet, phones and mobile arrive on one bill.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

List your Vonex services, such as your hosted phone system or SIP trunks, numbers, internet and mobiles, and when your agreement ends.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend the right mix of phones, internet and backup for each site and send you a written quote.

  3. 3 Install and set up

We connect your internet and configure your phone system, with handsets preconfigured and shipped if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We port your existing numbers across. Keep your Vonex service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel once you are live

When your numbers have moved and everything is working, you cancel the old services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Vonex?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Vonex or MaxoTel.
Why switch if my Vonex service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, when they are moving office, or when they want phones and internet from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Vonex. Check your contract terms and any early termination fees. Many businesses time the switch to their contract end date, and we can plan the move around it.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit. Keep your Vonex service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
If you own an on-premises PBX, SIP trunks connect it to Summit, starting from 2 channels. If you would rather move to the cloud, our Hosted PBX includes every feature.
Do you support Microsoft Teams calling?
Yes. We provide Teams Calling through Direct Routing. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep those with your current Microsoft provider.
Can I move my internet as well as my phones?
Yes. We offer business nbn with a static IP included nationally, Ethernet over fibre, and fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria. When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised.
Do you offer mobiles?
Yes. We offer business mobile SIM plans and 4G Backup, all on the same bill as your internet and phones.
