Overview

Vocus is a large Australian fibre and network company owned by Macquarie Asset Management and Aware Super. It sells business internet including fibre, Business nbn and nbn Enterprise Ethernet, along with data networks, a cloud phone system and mobile SIMs, and it serves enterprise, government and wholesale customers. In 2025 Vocus completed its acquisition of TPG Telecom's fibre network and its enterprise, government and wholesale fixed business.

Plenty of businesses are well served by their current provider. Others review their connection when a contract term ends, when they move office, when they want internet and phones handled by one carrier, or when they would rather deal with a provider that only works with businesses.

Summit Internet has been connecting Australian businesses for 26 years. We sell business nbn with a static IP included, Ethernet over fibre, 4G Backup and cloud phone systems, and in Melbourne and regional Victoria we also run our own fixed wireless network.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Vocus.

How Summit Helps

  • Business nbn with a static IP included

Our business nbn plans are available nationally and include a static IP as standard. On full-fibre nbn, speeds go up to 2000/500 Mbps, which suits offices running cloud apps, video calls and remote access.

  • Ethernet over fibre for sites that need more

Where a business needs a dedicated connection, Summit supplies Ethernet over fibre. It is a sensible next step for head offices and sites that have outgrown a standard nbn service.

  • Our own network, with DDoS protection as standard

Summit builds, owns and operates its own network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres. DDoS protection is included as standard on our network.

  • 4G Backup with automatic failover

4G Backup switches your connection to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) if your primary link drops, then fails back automatically when it returns. Staff keep working without anyone touching the router.

  • Fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria

If your business is in Melbourne or regional Victoria, our fixed wireless network covers 500+ suburbs with symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps. It is installed in 10 business days or the first month is free.

  • Cloud phones that work with your connection

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included, from auto attendant and call queues to call recording and mobile apps. When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised.

  • Internet, phones and mobile on one bill

Summit also supplies SIP trunks, Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing and business mobile SIM plans. Everything sits on one bill from one carrier.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current Vocus services, such as business nbn, fibre or cloud phone lines, your sites and your contract end date.

  2. 2 Get a tailored quote

We recommend the right connection for each site, with 4G Backup and phones where they make sense, and confirm what is available at your address.

  3. 3 Plan the cutover

We schedule installation around your contract end so the new service is up before the old one is cancelled. If you are moving phone numbers, keep your existing service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.

  4. 4 Go live

Your Summit connection is installed and tested, and any handsets can be preconfigured and shipped ready to plug in.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once everything is working on Summit, you arrange cancellation of the services you no longer need.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Vocus?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Vocus or any of its brands.
Why switch if my Vocus service is working?
If your current service does everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually review their provider when a contract ends, when they move or add a site, or when they want internet and phones from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on the terms of your agreement with your current provider. Check your contract for the end date and any early termination charges, and we can time your switch to line up with the end of your term.
Can Summit supply business nbn at my address?
Business nbn is available nationally. Send us your address through a quote request and we will confirm which technology and speeds are available at your site.
Do you offer fibre connections?
Yes. Summit supplies Ethernet over fibre for businesses that need a dedicated connection.
Is fixed wireless available at my office?
Summit's fixed wireless network covers Melbourne and regional Victoria only. You can check your coverage to see whether your address is in range.
Can I keep my phone numbers if I move my phones too?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
Often, yes. If your phone system supports SIP, our SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down. Otherwise our Hosted PBX replaces it with a cloud phone system.
What happens if my internet goes down?
With 4G Backup, your connection fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network and fails back when the primary link is restored.
