Overview

UTelecom is an Australian provider of communication services for businesses, with a postal address in Sunshine West, Victoria. Its website lists data services including Business NBN, nbn Enterprise Ethernet, fibre and 5G wireless, voice services including SIP trunking, inbound services and eFax, and unified communications including cloud calling, Dialpad, Microsoft Teams and contact centre products.

Businesses review their provider for plenty of reasons: a contract is coming to an end, they are moving office, or they want internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses, so a single network and a single provider are responsible for both.

Summit offers business nbn with a static IP, Ethernet over fibre, SIP trunks for the phone system you already own, a Hosted PBX cloud phone system, Microsoft Teams Calling and 1300 and 1800 numbers, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with UTelecom.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • Business nbn With a Static IP Included

Our business nbn plans include a static IP, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. It suits offices running VPNs, remote access, cameras or hosted systems.

  • Ethernet Over Fibre for Sites That Need More

Where a site needs more than nbn, Ethernet over fibre runs on Summit's own network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

If you have an on-premise or IP phone system, Summit SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volume changes.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Summit Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. Handsets can be preconfigured and shipped to you.

  • Teams Calling and Inbound Numbers

Make and take calls inside Microsoft Teams through Direct Routing, using the Microsoft licences you already have. We also provide 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging.

  • Voice Prioritised on One Network

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Internet, phones and mobile come on one bill from one carrier.

  • 4G Backup for When the Line Drops

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back automatically when your main connection returns.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current internet services, phone numbers, phone system and contract end dates, and we will work out what needs to move and when.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend the internet, voice and backup services that fit your sites and send a clear quote.

  3. 3 Install the connection

We install your Summit internet service and test it before any phones move, so there is no gap in connectivity.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port for your existing numbers. Keep your current phone service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers have ported and everything is working on Summit, you can cancel your old services in line with your agreement.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of UTelecom?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with UTelecom.
Why switch if my UTelecom service is working?
If your current services do everything your business needs, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually talk to us when a contract is ending, they are moving office, or they want internet and phones from one business-only carrier on one bill.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with UTelecom. Check your contract terms, and if you are still within a fixed term, we can time the switch so your new services start as your current contract ends.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, in most cases existing numbers, including 1300 and 1800 numbers, can be ported to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.
How long does number porting take?
The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and ports involving multiple numbers can take up to 30 days. We will keep you updated through the process.
Can Summit work with my existing phone system?
If your phone system supports SIP, Summit SIP trunks can connect to it, starting from 2 channels. If you would rather move to the cloud, our Hosted PBX includes every feature from $10 per user per month.
Do you support Microsoft Teams calling?
Yes. We connect Teams to the phone network through Direct Routing. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep using the licences you already have.
Do you provide business nbn?
Yes. Summit business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included, and speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn.
Can I have a backup connection?
Yes. 4G Backup switches over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network if your main connection drops, and switches back when it returns.
