Overview

URL Networks is a Melbourne-based, Australian-owned telecommunications provider established in 2007. It describes itself as a specialist in VoIP for business telecommunications, and sells hosted cloud PBX, SIP trunks, Microsoft Teams Direct Routing, 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email, nbn and enterprise fibre services, mobile broadband and mobile SIM plans.

Businesses review their phones and internet for ordinary reasons: a plan term is ending, the office is moving, the team is growing, or they want their phones, internet and mobiles from one licensed carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks, Microsoft Teams Calling, inbound numbers, business nbn with a static IP, Ethernet over fibre and business mobile, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with URL Networks.

How Summit Helps

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant (IVR), ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. We can preconfigure your handsets and ship them to you.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

If your business runs an on-site phone system, SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Calls in Microsoft Teams

Answer your calls in Microsoft Teams through Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licences, and we provide the calling.

  • 1300 and 1800 Numbers, Fax to Email and On-Hold Messaging

We provide 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging, so the numbers your customers call sit with the same carrier as the phones that answer them.

  • Business nbn With a Static IP

Business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included, and speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn.

  • Dedicated Fibre for Sites That Need It

For offices that need dedicated capacity, we offer Ethernet over fibre. In Melbourne and regional Victoria, our fixed wireless delivers symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps.

  • Voice Prioritised on Our Network

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS, so calls are not competing with downloads and cloud backups.

  • Backup and Mobiles on One Bill

4G Backup switches to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) if your primary link drops, and fails back automatically. Add business mobile SIM plans and your phones, internet and mobiles arrive on one bill.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your phone numbers, phone system or Teams setup, internet services, mobiles and any contract end dates, and we will map out the equivalent Summit services.

  2. 2 Get a clear quote

We recommend a cloud phone system, SIP trunks or Teams Calling, plus internet and backup, and put it in writing.

  3. 3 Install and test

We connect your internet and configure your phones, call flows and queues while your existing services keep running.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

Where your numbers can be ported, we lodge the port. Keep your old service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers have moved and everything is working, you cancel your previous services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of URL Networks?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier (ACMA Carrier Licence #388) and is not affiliated with URL Networks. We build, own and operate our own network.
Why switch if my URL Networks service is working?
If your current services do everything your business needs, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually look at Summit when a plan is ending, when they are moving or growing, or when they want their phones, internet and mobiles from one licensed, business-only carrier on one bill.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
In many cases, yes. Existing numbers, including 1300 and 1800 numbers, can be ported to Summit where you hold the right to move them. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with URL Networks. Check your terms before you switch, and where possible time the move to the end of your current term. We can plan the switch around that date.
I use Microsoft Teams for calls. Can Summit support that?
Yes. We provide Microsoft Teams Calling through Direct Routing. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep the licences you already have.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
Often, yes. If your on-site phone system supports SIP, our SIP trunks can connect it to our network. If you would rather move to the cloud, our Hosted PBX replaces it, and we can preconfigure and ship new handsets.
Do I need to move my phones and internet at the same time?
No. You can take our phone services or our internet on their own. When both are with Summit, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS and everything arrives on one bill.
Does Summit work with businesses outside Melbourne?
Yes. Our phone services, inbound numbers, business nbn and business mobile plans are available to Australian businesses nationally. Summit fixed wireless is limited to Melbourne and regional Victoria, so check your coverage if you are interested in it.
