Overview

Upti is an Australian-owned communications company based in Brisbane. It sells business internet, VoIP and data centre services, and it is the parent company of Yabbit, a cloud unified communications platform offering a cloud phone system, SIP phone systems, mobile apps, video conferencing and contact centre features. Yabbit's own website notes that its phone system runs over the customer's existing nbn, fibre, 4G or 5G connection.

Businesses review their phone and internet provider for ordinary reasons: a contract is coming to an end, the office is moving, or they would rather have internet, phones and mobile from a single carrier on one bill, so one team is responsible for the whole path a call takes.

Summit offers a hosted PBX with every feature included, SIP trunks for existing phone systems, business nbn with a static IP included, and 4G Backup for failover. We have been doing this for 26 years and we only work with businesses.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Upti or Yabbit.

How Summit Helps

  • A cloud phone system with every feature included

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording, and mobile and desktop apps. There are no feature tiers to work through.

  • SIP trunks if you have your own phone system

If your business runs its own phone system, our SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Business internet from the same carrier

Business nbn comes with a static IP included, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. Where you need more, we offer Ethernet over fibre, and in Melbourne and regional Victoria, fixed wireless.

  • Voice prioritised on our own network

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. We build, own and operate our network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard.

  • Keep calls going if the line drops

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, which covers 98.8% of the population, and fails back automatically when your main connection returns.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your staff live in Teams, we connect it to the phone network through Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licences, as Summit does not resell them.

  • Inbound numbers and the extras

We supply 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging, so the services around your main lines can move too.

  • Mobiles on the same bill

Add business mobile SIM plans and have internet, phones and mobile on one bill from one provider.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Send us a recent bill or a list of your numbers, handsets, users and internet services, and we will work out what you need.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend a hosted PBX or SIP trunks, plus internet and backup if you want them, and quote them together.

  3. 3 Set up before the switch

We build your call flows, connect your internet, and can preconfigure handsets and ship them to you ready to plug in.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old service

Once your numbers are live with Summit, you can arrange to close your old services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Upti (Yabbit)?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Upti or Yabbit.
Why switch if my Upti (Yabbit) service is working?
If your current setup does everything you need, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, when they are moving office, or when they want internet, phones and mobile from one carrier on one bill.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with your current provider. Check your contract terms, and if there is a minimum term, we can plan the switch to line up with its end date.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port is complete, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing handsets?
It depends on the handset model. Tell us what you have and we will confirm. If you need new handsets, we can preconfigure them and ship them to you.
Do I need Summit internet to use Summit phones?
No. Our hosted PBX and SIP trunks work over other connections. When the internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS.
Do you support Microsoft Teams?
Yes. We provide Teams Calling through Direct Routing. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep the ones you already have.
Can I move my 1300 or 1800 number?
Yes. We supply 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers and can port existing ones, along with fax to email and on-hold messaging.
Where do you provide service?
Business nbn, phones and mobile are available to Australian businesses nationally. Our fixed wireless network covers Melbourne and regional Victoria only.
