Overview

Untangled describes itself as an Australian telecommunications reseller. It sells Dialpad cloud phone and contact centre plans to businesses, along with SIP trunks, business fibre and nbn internet plans, mobile and data SIMs, and handsets, headsets and routers.

Businesses review their provider for plenty of reasons: a contract is ending, the team is moving office, or they want their phones and the internet connection those phones run over to come from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks, Microsoft Teams Calling, business nbn with a static IP, Ethernet over fibre, 4G backup and business mobiles, all on one bill. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Untangled.

How Summit Helps

  • A Licensed Carrier, Not a Reseller

Summit holds ACMA Carrier Licence #388 and builds, owns and operates its own network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres. We have been connecting Australian businesses for 26 years.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. Every feature is included, so there are no add-ons to work out per user.

  • SIP Trunks for a Phone System You Own

Running your own PBX? SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Business nbn With a Static IP Included

Business nbn comes with a static IP included, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. For sites that need a dedicated connection, Ethernet over fibre is also available.

  • Calls Prioritised on Your Own Connection

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS, so calls are not competing with downloads and video for bandwidth.

  • 4G Backup That Fails Over Automatically

4G Backup switches your connection to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, if your main link drops, and fails back automatically once it returns.

  • Business Mobiles on the Same Bill

Business mobile SIM plans sit alongside your internet and phones, so there is one bill and one provider to call.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling and 1300 Numbers

If your team works in Teams, Teams Calling connects it to the phone network through Direct Routing. We also provide 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current phone numbers, users, internet services and mobiles, and when your Untangled agreement ends.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend a mix of phone system, internet and mobiles that fits how your business works, and quote it on one bill.

  3. 3 Install and set up

We connect your internet, set up your phone system and preconfigure and ship any handsets you need.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers and connections are live with Summit, you can close your old services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Untangled?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Untangled or Dialpad.
Why switch if my Untangled service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, when they are moving office, or when they want internet, phones and mobiles from one licensed carrier that deals only with businesses.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Untangled. Check your contract terms, and if there is a minimum term, time the switch to its end date. We can plan the move around it.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep using Dialpad?
Summit does not resell Dialpad. We offer our own Hosted PBX, SIP trunks and Microsoft Teams Calling. We can talk through which of these fits how your team uses its phones today.
Can Summit supply our internet as well as our phones?
Yes. We provide business nbn nationally with a static IP included, Ethernet over fibre, and in Melbourne and regional Victoria, fixed wireless. When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised.
Do you provide business mobiles?
Yes. We offer business mobile SIM plans on the same bill as your internet and phones.
Do I need new handsets?
Not necessarily. Our Hosted PBX includes mobile and desktop apps, and if you want desk phones we can preconfigure them and ship them to you.
