Overview

UNIVOX is an Australian telecommunications company selling cloud-based communications to businesses. Its range includes a hosted Cloud PBX, desktop and mobile softphone apps, nbn internet plans, 13, 1300 and 1800 numbers, on-hold messages, and phones, headsets and network equipment.

Businesses review their phone and internet provider for plenty of reasons: an agreement is ending, the team is moving office, they need features such as call queues or Teams calling, or they want their phones and the connection those phones depend on to come from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks, Microsoft Teams Calling and business nbn with a static IP included, plus 4G backup and business mobiles, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with UNIVOX.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. Every feature is included, so there are no add-ons to work out per user.

  • Desk Phones or Apps, Your Choice

Staff can take calls on the mobile and desktop apps, on a desk handset, or both. We can preconfigure handsets and ship them to you, so they work as soon as they are plugged in.

  • Business nbn With a Static IP Included

Business nbn comes with a static IP included, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. Where you need more, we also offer Ethernet over fibre, and in Melbourne and regional Victoria, fixed wireless on our own network.

  • Voice Prioritised on Your Own Carrier's Network

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Our network has Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres, with DDoS protection as standard.

  • 4G Backup for When the Line Drops

A cloud phone system needs a working connection. 4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back automatically when your main service returns.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling and SIP Trunks

If your team lives in Teams, Teams Calling connects it to the phone network through Direct Routing; you keep buying your Microsoft licences as you do now. Running your own phone system? SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down.

  • Inbound Numbers, Mobiles and One Bill

Add 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email, on-hold messaging and business mobile SIM plans. Internet, phones and mobile arrive on one bill.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have now

List your UNIVOX numbers, including any 13, 1300 or 1800 numbers, your users and extensions, your call flows, your nbn service and address, and when any agreement ends.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend the right setup, whether Hosted PBX, Teams Calling or SIP trunks, plus internet and backup, and send you a written quote.

  3. 3 Connect your internet and build your phone system

We arrange your business nbn or other connection, then build your auto attendant, ring groups and queues to match how your team works, and preconfigure and ship handsets if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We port your existing numbers across. Keep your UNIVOX service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel once you are live

When your numbers have moved and your calls and internet are working, you cancel the old services.

Why UNIVOX Customers Choose Summit

  • 01

Phones and Internet From One Carrier

A cloud phone system is only as good as the connection under it. With Summit, the phone system, the internet connection and the backup all come from one carrier, so one team is responsible for the whole path a call takes.

  • 02

    A Licensed Australian Carrier

Summit holds ACMA Carrier Licence #388 and has been connecting Australian businesses since August 2000. We build, own and operate our own network.

  • 03

Every Feature, One Price Per User

Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included, so adding a call queue or call recording does not change your plan.

  • 04

    Built Only for Businesses

We do not sell residential services. Our products and support are designed for businesses that depend on their phones and internet every day.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of UNIVOX?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with UNIVOX, and this page is not endorsed by UNIVOX.
Why switch if my UNIVOX service is working?
If your UNIVOX service does everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually talk to us when an agreement is ending, when they are moving office, when they need more from their phone system, or when they want their phones, internet and mobiles from one business-only carrier.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit, including local numbers and 1300 and 1800 numbers. Keep your UNIVOX service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with UNIVOX, so check its terms for any minimum term, notice period or equipment charges. Where there is a term, we can time your switch to line up with its end.
Can I move my phones and internet at the same time?
Yes. We can arrange your business nbn and your phone system together, and schedule the number port so your internet is in place before your calls move across.
Do you offer SIP trunks or Teams Calling instead of a hosted phone system?
Yes. SIP trunks connect a phone system you already own, starting from 2 channels. Microsoft Teams Calling uses Direct Routing so staff call from Teams; Summit does not resell Microsoft licences.
What happens if my internet goes down?
Add 4G Backup and your connection fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, then fails back automatically when your main service returns.
Do you sell to households?
No. Summit is business-only and does not sell residential services.
