Overview

UCOM is a business communications provider headquartered in Malvern, Victoria, operating as UCOM Telecom Pty Ltd. It sells the UCOM PBX business phone system, the UCOM GO mobile phone system, SIP trunks and a softphone app, along with Business nbn, Wireless nbn and Enterprise nbn internet, SIM-only business mobile plans and IoT data SIM cards.

There are plenty of good reasons to review a provider without anything being wrong. A contract is coming to an end. You are moving office. You want your internet and phones delivered over one carrier's own network, with voice traffic prioritised across the connection. Or you need connectivity options beyond nbn, such as dedicated fibre or fixed wireless in Melbourne.

Summit Internet is a business-only carrier. We build, own and operate our own network with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres, and we supply Business nbn, Ethernet over fibre, fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria, a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and business mobile plans to Australian businesses.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with UCOM.

How Summit Helps

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month, with auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps all included. We can preconfigure handsets and ship them to your office.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Have

Running your own IP PBX or 3CX? Our SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volume changes.

  • Keep Your Numbers, Including 1300 and 1800

We port your existing numbers across, and we supply 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your team lives in Teams, we connect it to the phone network through Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licences; we provide the calling.

  • Business nbn With a Static IP Included

Our Business nbn plans are available nationally, with a static IP included and speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. DDoS protection comes as standard.

  • Fibre and Fixed Wireless Beyond nbn

For larger sites, Ethernet over fibre is available alongside Business nbn. In Melbourne and regional Victoria, our fixed wireless delivers symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps, installed in 10 business days or the first month is free.

  • 4G Backup That Fails Over Automatically

4G Backup switches your site to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) if your main link drops, then fails back automatically when it returns.

  • Internet, Phones and Mobile on One Bill

Add business mobile SIM plans and everything sits with one carrier. When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised across the connection.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Send us a recent bill or a list of your services: phone system or SIP trunks, numbers, internet connections and mobiles. We will map each one to a Summit equivalent.

  2. 2 Get a clear quote

We recommend the right voice, internet and mobile setup for each site and show you exactly what it costs. Request a quote to get started.

  3. 3 Install your new connection

We connect your new internet service and set up your phone system first, so everything is ready before your numbers move.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current UCOM phone service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers are live with Summit and everything is working, you cancel the remaining services with your old provider.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of UCOM?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not owned by, affiliated with or a reseller of UCOM.
Why switch if my UCOM service is working?
If your current setup does everything your business needs, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, when they move or add sites, when they want internet and phones on one carrier's own network, or when they need fibre or fixed wireless rather than nbn.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with UCOM. Check your contract terms before you switch. Many businesses time the move to their contract end date, and we can plan the changeover around it.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes. We port your existing numbers, including 1300 and 1800 numbers. Keep your UCOM service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
If you run your own IP PBX, you can connect it to Summit's SIP trunks. If you would rather move to a cloud phone system, our Hosted PBX includes every feature from $10 per user per month.
Do you offer business mobile plans?
Yes. We offer business mobile SIM plans, so your mobiles can sit on the same bill as your internet and phones.
Is Summit's fixed wireless available at my address?
Summit's fixed wireless network covers Melbourne and regional Victoria, across 500+ suburbs. Check your coverage to see what is available at your site. Business nbn is available nationally.
Will my phones stop working during the switch?
We set up your new service first and port your numbers last. Keep your UCOM service active until the port completes, so your existing service continues while the port is processed.
