Overview

UC8 Australia Pty Ltd, headquartered in Brisbane, sells hosted IP PBX business phone systems. Its range covers a cloud PBX, softphones for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android, unified communications and team collaboration tools, and it supports IP desktop, conference and cordless handsets on an open platform.

Businesses review their phone provider for plenty of reasons: a contract is ending, the team is moving office, or they want their phones and the internet connection those phones depend on to come from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and Microsoft Teams Calling, plus business nbn with a static IP, 4G backup and business mobiles, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with UC8.

How Summit Helps

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email and call recording. There are no feature tiers to work through when you compare options.

  • Softphones on Desktop and Mobile

Staff who already take calls on a softphone can keep working that way. Summit's Hosted PBX includes mobile and desktop apps, so your team can answer the business line from a laptop or smartphone as well as a desk phone.

  • Handsets Ready to Plug In

If you are moving to new desk phones, we can preconfigure the handsets and ship them to your office. Your team plugs them in and starts taking calls.

  • SIP Trunks if You Keep Your Own Phone System

If your business would rather run its own IP phone system, our SIP trunks connect it to the phone network. Start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volume changes.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your team collaborates in Microsoft Teams, we can bring your phone numbers into Teams through Direct Routing with Teams Calling. You keep the Microsoft licences you already hold, as Summit does not resell them.

  • Voice Prioritised on Our Own Network

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Your calls and your data travel on the same network we build, own and operate, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres.

  • Business Internet With a Static IP

Our business nbn includes a static IP and reaches up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. We also offer Ethernet over fibre, and 4G Backup that fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network and fails back when your main connection returns.

  • Inbound Numbers and Extras

Keep or add 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging. Internet, phones and mobile all arrive on one bill.

How It Works

  1. 1 Talk to us about your current setup

Tell us how many users, handsets, softphones and numbers you have, and how your calls are routed today. We will recommend Hosted PBX, SIP trunks or Teams Calling to suit.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We put together a clear proposal for your phones, and for internet, backup and mobiles if you want them on the same bill.

  3. 3 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your UC8 service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  4. 4 Set up and test

We build your call flows, auto attendant and ring groups, and preconfigure and ship handsets if you need them, so everything is ready before cutover.

  5. 5 Cut over and close the old account

Once your numbers are live with Summit and calls are working, you can arrange to cancel your old service.

  • As a reseller, we primarily work with Summit’s 4G services and have been very impressed. The plans are affordable, flexible, and well suited to our customers—especially for internet failover solutions. The sales and support teams are responsive and genuinely helpful, which is why we’re proud to partner with Summit Internet. We happily recommend them.Read more

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of UC8?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with UC8 in any way.
Why switch if my UC8 service is working?
If your current phone system does everything you need, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually review their provider when a contract ends, when they move office, or when they want their phones and internet from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with your current provider. Check your contract term and any exit fees, and where possible time your switch to line up with the end of your contract.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can my team keep using softphones?
Yes. Summit's Hosted PBX includes mobile and desktop apps, so staff can make and take business calls from a computer or smartphone.
What about handsets?
Tell us which handsets you use today and we will talk through your options. If you need new desk phones, we can preconfigure them and ship them to you ready to plug in.
What if I want to run my own phone system instead?
Our SIP trunks connect your own phone system to the phone network, starting from 2 channels and scaling up or down as you need.
Do I need Summit internet to use Summit phones?
No, our phone services work over other internet connections. When your internet is also with Summit, voice traffic is prioritised across our network, and everything sits on one bill.
Do you work with businesses outside Brisbane?
Yes. Our phone services, business nbn and mobile plans are available to Australian businesses nationally.
