Overview

TIG Telecom describes itself as a 100% Australian-owned and operated telecommunications service provider. For businesses it lists voice services including PSTN and ISDN, SIP, IP PBX phone systems and inbound services, and internet services including EFM, fibre broadband, SHDSL and nbn, alongside IP VPN, cloud and managed IT services.

Businesses review their provider for ordinary reasons: a contract is ending, the office is moving, an older phone system is due for replacement, or they want internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers business nbn with a static IP, Ethernet over fibre, fixed wireless across Melbourne and regional Victoria, a cloud phone system, SIP trunks, Microsoft Teams Calling and 1300 and 1800 numbers, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with TIG Telecom.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

If you run an on-premises PBX, SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change. You keep your handsets and your existing setup.

  • A Cloud Phone System When Your PBX Is Due for Replacement

Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. We can preconfigure your handsets and ship them to you.

  • Moving Off ISDN and Copper Lines

If you still have PSTN or ISDN services, Summit can move those numbers onto SIP trunks, Hosted PBX or Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences.

  • 1300 and 1800 Numbers

Keep your inbound numbers working by porting them to Summit, alongside fax to email and on-hold messaging.

  • Business Internet With a Static IP

Business nbn comes with a static IP included, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. For sites that need dedicated capacity, we offer Ethernet over fibre.

  • Fixed Wireless in Melbourne and Regional Victoria

If your premises is in our footprint, fixed wireless runs across 500+ suburbs with symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps, installed in 10 business days or your first month is free.

  • Backup That Switches Over Automatically

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back when your main link returns.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

List your current services: SIP channels, phone lines, 1300 or 1800 numbers, internet links and phone system. A recent bill is usually enough.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend the right mix of internet and voice for each site and give you a clear quote.

  3. 3 Install your connection

We install your Summit internet service and set up your phone system or SIP trunks, so you can test before anything changes.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current TIG Telecom services active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.

  5. 5 Cancel your old services

Once your numbers are live on Summit, you can cancel the remaining services with your previous provider.

Why TIG Telecom Customers Choose Summit

  • 01

    Our Own Licensed Network

Summit holds ACMA Carrier Licence #388 and builds, owns and operates its own network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres. DDoS protection is standard.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of TIG Telecom?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388, and is not affiliated with TIG Telecom.
Why switch if my TIG Telecom service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, when they move office, when a phone system needs replacing, or when they want internet and phones from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with TIG Telecom. Check your contract end date and any early termination terms, and time the switch to your contract end where you can.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
In most cases, yes. We can port your existing local numbers and 1300 or 1800 numbers to Summit. Keep your old service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and ports involving multiple numbers can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
Often, yes. If your PBX supports SIP, we can connect it with SIP trunks from 2 channels. If it is due for replacement, Hosted PBX is the alternative.
I still have ISDN or PSTN lines. What are my options?
We can move those numbers onto SIP trunks for your existing phone system, onto a Hosted PBX, or into Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing.
What internet services can Summit provide?
Business nbn with a static IP included, Ethernet over fibre, 4G Static IP and 4G Backup nationally, plus fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria. Check your address on our coverage page.
Does Summit sell to households?
No. Summit is business-only and does not sell residential services.
