Overview

The VOIP Shop is an Australian business VoIP provider based in Erina on the NSW Central Coast. Its website has described its main service as a Hosted PBX phone system for businesses, with VoIP handsets that can be included in a plan, rented or bought outright, and per-extension call plans.

Businesses review their phone provider for plenty of reasons: a contract is ending, the business is moving office, or they want internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses, so there is one network and one provider responsible for call quality.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks for the phone system you already own, Microsoft Teams Calling and inbound numbers, together with business internet on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with The VOIP Shop.

How Summit Helps

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Moving from a hosted phone system? Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps.

  • Handsets Preconfigured and Shipped

If you need new handsets as part of the move, we can preconfigure them and ship them to you, so your team plugs them in and starts taking calls.

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been in business for 26 years.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

If you would rather run your own phone system, Summit SIP trunks connect it to the phone network. They start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your team lives in Teams, Teams Calling connects it to the phone network through Direct Routing, so staff make and take calls on their business numbers from Teams. You keep buying your Microsoft licences as you do now.

  • 1300 and 1800 Numbers, Fax to Email and On-Hold Messaging

Bring your 1300 and 1800 numbers across, and add fax to email and on-hold messaging alongside your phone system.

  • Voice Prioritised When the Internet Is Ours Too

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Business nbn comes with a static IP included, and 4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, then fails back when your main service returns.

  • Phones, Internet and Mobile on One Bill

Our network has Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard. Add business mobile SIM plans and your internet, phones and mobiles arrive on one bill from one carrier.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

List your Hosted PBX extensions, your handsets, your numbers including any 1300 or 1800 numbers, and the internet connection you use today.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend a hosted phone system, SIP trunks or Teams Calling to match how you work, and send you a written quote.

  3. 3 Set up your new service

We configure your phone system, with handsets preconfigured and shipped if you need them, and connect your internet if it is moving too.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We port your existing numbers across. Keep your The VOIP Shop service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel once you are live

When your numbers have moved and calls are working on Summit, you close the old account.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of The VOIP Shop?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with The VOIP Shop.
Why switch if my The VOIP Shop service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, they are moving office, or they want phones and internet from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with The VOIP Shop. Check your contract terms and any handset rental or repayment arrangements, and where possible time the switch to your contract end date. We can line up your Summit services so they are ready when you are.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, your existing numbers can be ported to Summit, including 1300 and 1800 numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing handsets?
It depends on the handset model and whether you own it or rent it. Tell us the models you have and we will confirm whether they can be used with Summit Hosted PBX, or we can preconfigure new handsets and ship them to you.
What features does Summit Hosted PBX include?
Every feature is included from $10 per user per month: auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording, and mobile and desktop apps.
Do I need Summit internet to use Summit phones?
No. Our phone services work over your existing internet connection. If your internet is also with Summit, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS and everything is on one bill.
Where does Summit provide services?
Summit serves Australian businesses nationally, with Hosted PBX, SIP trunks and Teams Calling, plus Business nbn with a static IP included. Fixed wireless is available in Melbourne and regional Victoria.
