Overview

TeleQuip is a Cairns-based communications and IT provider that has served businesses in Far North Queensland since 1987. It became a Carriage Service Provider in 2017 and sells nbn Business Fibre, managed voice including hosted phone systems and SIP trunks, 1300 and 1800 numbers, cloud services, Microsoft 365 and managed IT.

Businesses review their provider for ordinary reasons: a contract is coming to an end, the business is moving office or opening another site, or they want internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers business nbn with a static IP, Ethernet over fibre, a cloud phone system, SIP trunks for existing phone systems and Microsoft Teams Calling, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with TeleQuip (TFNQ).

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • Business nbn With a Static IP

Business nbn comes with a static IP included, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. For sites that need dedicated capacity, we offer Ethernet over fibre.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. We can preconfigure your handsets and ship them to you.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

Keeping your existing PBX? SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Teams Calling Through Direct Routing

If your staff already work in Microsoft Teams, Teams Calling lets them make and receive calls there through Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licences, as Summit does not resell them.

  • Your 1300 and 1800 Numbers

Bring your 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers across, along with fax to email and on-hold messaging.

  • Voice Prioritised on Our Network

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS, so calls are not competing with downloads and cloud backups.

  • Backup That Fails Over Automatically

4G Backup switches to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) if your primary link drops, and fails back automatically when it returns.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current nbn services, phone numbers, SIP trunks and contract end dates, and we will map out the equivalent Summit services.

  2. 2 Get a clear quote

We recommend the right connection, phone system or SIP trunks for each site and put it in writing.

  3. 3 Install and test

We install your Summit internet and set up your phone system while your existing services keep running.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port for your existing numbers. Keep your old service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers have moved and everything is working, you cancel your previous services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of TeleQuip (TFNQ)?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier (ACMA Carrier Licence #388) and is not affiliated with TeleQuip (TFNQ). We build, own and operate our own network.
Why switch if my TeleQuip (TFNQ) service is working?
If your current services do everything your business needs, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, when they are moving or adding a site, or when they want internet, phones and mobiles from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with your current provider. Check your contract end date and any early termination terms, and we can time the switch to line up with the end of your contract.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit, including local numbers and 1300 and 1800 numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep the phone system I already have?
Often, yes. If your phone system supports SIP, Summit SIP trunks can connect to it, starting from 2 channels. If you would rather move to the cloud, our Hosted PBX includes every feature from $10 per user per month.
Does Summit offer business nbn where I am?
Summit's business nbn is available nationally wherever nbn business services can be connected, with a static IP included. Fixed wireless is only available in Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Can I use Microsoft Teams for calls?
Yes. Summit connects Teams Calling through Direct Routing. You keep your Microsoft licences with your existing Microsoft provider, because Summit does not resell them.
What if my internet connection goes down?
4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) and fails back when your primary connection returns.
