Overview

Telair is an Australian telecommunications provider founded in 2006, with teams in Brisbane, Perth, Sydney and Melbourne. Its business range includes business nbn, fibre, enterprise ethernet and wireless internet, Hosted PBX, Business SIP, virtual fax, phone systems, business mobiles, SD-WAN and managed networks, alongside managed IT services. The Telair group also runs a wholesale arm for managed service providers and a residential brand, MyOwn Tel.

Businesses review their provider for ordinary reasons: a contract is coming to an end, the office is moving, the phone system is due for a refresh, or they want a carrier that only serves businesses. Whatever the reason, it is worth comparing before you renew.

Summit offers business nbn with a static IP, Ethernet over fibre, fixed wireless across Melbourne and regional Victoria, a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and Microsoft Teams Calling, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Telair.

How Summit Helps

  • A Licensed Carrier With Its Own Network

Summit holds ACMA Carrier Licence #388 and has been connecting Australian businesses for 26 years. We build, own and operate our network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard.

  • Business Internet With a Static IP

Business nbn comes with a static IP included, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. For sites that need dedicated capacity, we offer Ethernet over fibre, and in Melbourne and regional Victoria we also offer fixed wireless.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. We can preconfigure your handsets and ship them to you.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

Keeping your existing PBX? SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your staff live in Teams, Teams Calling connects Teams to the phone network through Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licensing arrangements, as Summit does not resell Microsoft licences.

  • Inbound Numbers and Fax to Email

Move your 1300 and 1800 numbers alongside your local lines, with fax to email and on-hold messaging available too.

  • 4G Backup and Business Mobiles

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back when your main link returns. Add business mobile SIM plans to the same account.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share a recent bill or a list of your services, numbers and sites, and when your current agreement ends.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend the internet, phone and mobile services that fit, and plan the timing around your contract.

  3. 3 Install and set up

We connect your internet and configure your phone system or SIP trunks, with handsets preconfigured and shipped if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your Telair service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.

  5. 5 Cut over and cancel

Once everything is live on Summit, you confirm the cancellation of any remaining services with your old provider.

Why Telair Customers Choose Summit

  • 01

Internet and Phones From One Network

Your phones run over a connection Summit builds and operates, so voice traffic is prioritised with QoS and there is one carrier responsible for both.

  • 02

    Choice of Voice Platform

Hosted PBX, SIP trunks for an existing phone system, or Microsoft Teams Calling. You pick what suits the way your staff work, and can mix them across sites.

  • 03

    A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Our products and support are built around business needs, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • 04

    Planned Around Your Contract

We help you time the move to your contract end and port your numbers in an orderly way, so the switch fits your business rather than the other way around.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Telair?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Telair or any of its brands.
Why switch if my Telair service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually look around when a contract is ending, when they are moving office, when they want a business-only carrier, or when they want to add services such as 4G backup or, in Melbourne and regional Victoria, fixed wireless.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Telair. Check your contract terms for any early termination fees. Many businesses time the switch to their contract end, and we can plan the move around that date.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit, including 1300 and 1800 numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
Often, yes. If your PBX supports SIP, SIP trunks can connect it to Summit. If you would rather move to the cloud, Hosted PBX replaces the on-site system.
Do you support Microsoft Teams calling?
Yes. Summit provides Teams Calling through Direct Routing. We do not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep your existing Microsoft arrangements.
Where does Summit provide business internet?
Business nbn and Ethernet over fibre are available nationally. Fixed wireless is available in Melbourne and regional Victoria only. You can check coverage at your address.
Can I move internet, phones and mobiles together?
Yes. Summit offers business internet, voice and business mobile SIM plans, all on one bill.
