Overview

TasmaNet has operated since 2004, specialises in business and government customers, and has field offices in Hobart, Burnie, Sydney and Sunnybank. Its range includes nbn business internet, Enterprise Ethernet, managed private networks, a cloud-based virtual PBX, Business SIP, Microsoft Teams Calling, mobile, cloud services and a data centre.

Businesses review their provider for ordinary reasons: a contract is ending, the office is moving, or they want internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers business nbn with a static IP, Ethernet over fibre, a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and Microsoft Teams Calling, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with TasmaNet.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. We have worked only with businesses for 26 years.

  • Business nbn With a Static IP Included

Our business nbn plans are available nationally and include a static IP. On full-fibre nbn, speeds go up to 2000/500 Mbps.

  • Ethernet Over Fibre for Larger Sites

If you run an Enterprise Ethernet service today, Ethernet over fibre from Summit gives your site a fibre connection on our own network, with DDoS protection as standard.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month, with auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps all included. We can preconfigure handsets and ship them to you.

  • SIP Trunks for Your Existing Phone System

If you are keeping your own phone system, SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volume changes.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

We connect your Teams environment to the phone network through Direct Routing with Microsoft Teams Calling. You keep your existing Microsoft licences, as Summit does not resell them.

  • 4G Backup for When the Line Drops

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back automatically when your main service returns.

  • Internet, Phones and Mobile on One Bill

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised. Add business mobile SIM plans and everything sits on one bill.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current internet, phone and mobile services, how many numbers you use and when your TasmaNet agreement ends.

  2. 2 Get a tailored quote

We recommend the right connection and voice setup for each site and confirm what is available at your address.

  3. 3 Install and set up

We arrange your new connection and configure your phone system or SIP trunks, with handsets preconfigured if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port for your existing numbers. Keep your TasmaNet service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.

  5. 5 Cancel once you are live

When your numbers are working on Summit and your new connection is running, you can arrange to close your old services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of TasmaNet?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with TasmaNet.
Why switch if my TasmaNet service is working?
If your current services do everything your business needs, there may be no reason to switch. Many businesses review their provider at contract end or when moving office, and that is a good time to compare what is available.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with TasmaNet. Check your contract terms, and if possible time the switch to your contract end date.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and ports with multiple numbers can take up to 30 days. Keep your existing service active until the port completes.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
Yes. If your phone system supports SIP, Summit's SIP trunks can connect to it. If you would rather move to the cloud, Hosted PBX replaces it.
Do you offer business nbn outside Tasmania and Victoria?
Yes. Business nbn is available nationally, with a static IP included.
Can you replace my Microsoft Teams Calling service?
Summit provides Teams Calling through Direct Routing. You keep your Microsoft licences, as we do not resell them.
Do you offer fixed wireless?
Summit's own fixed wireless network covers Melbourne and regional Victoria only, across 500+ suburbs. Elsewhere we offer business nbn and Ethernet over fibre. You can check your coverage.
