Overview

Talking Business is a privately owned business communications provider and part of Taipan Group Pty Ltd. It sells phone systems to businesses, including cloud phone systems built on 3CX, OzPBX and Avaya, in-house Avaya systems and a bring-your-own phone system option. It also sells IP telephony, 1300 and 1800 numbers, conferencing, fax to email and internet services such as nbn, static IP failover, fibre Ethernet and wireless broadband Ethernet.

Businesses review their phone provider for ordinary reasons: a contract coming to an end, a move to new premises, a phone system due for replacement, or wanting internet, phones and mobiles from the one carrier on the one bill. Some simply prefer a provider that only serves businesses.

Summit offers a hosted PBX with every feature included, SIP trunks for phone systems you want to keep, Microsoft Teams Calling and 1300 and 1800 numbers, alongside business nbn with a static IP included.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Talking Business.

How Summit Helps

  • A cloud phone system with every feature included

Summit's Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording, and mobile and desktop apps. There are no add-on tiers to work through.

  • SIP trunks if you want to keep your phone system

If your business runs its own phone system and you are happy with it, Summit's SIP trunks connect it to the phone network. Start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volume changes.

  • Your existing numbers come with you

Summit ports your existing geographic numbers and your 1300 or 1800 numbers, so customers keep calling the numbers they already know. Keep your current service active until the port completes.

  • 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email and on-hold

Summit provides 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging, so the extras your business relies on move across with your phones.

  • Teams Calling for Microsoft 365 businesses

If your staff already work in Microsoft Teams, Summit can connect Teams to the phone network through Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licensing; Summit provides the calling.

  • Business internet that puts voice first

Summit's business nbn includes a static IP, with up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn and Ethernet over fibre for larger sites. When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised.

  • Backup that switches over by itself

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, covering 98.8% of the population, and fails back automatically when your main connection returns.

  • Handsets ready to plug in

Summit can preconfigure handsets and ship them to your office, so your team can plug in and start taking calls on cutover day.

How It Works

  1. 1 Talk to us

Tell us how many users, numbers and sites you have, and what your current phone system does. We will recommend hosted PBX, SIP trunks or Teams Calling to suit.

  2. 2 Get a quote

You receive a clear quote covering phones, numbers and, if you want it, internet and mobiles on one bill.

  3. 3 Port your numbers

We lodge the port for your existing numbers. Keep your current Talking Business service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  4. 4 Set up and cut over

We configure your call flows, ring groups and voicemail, and ship preconfigured handsets if you need them. Calls move to Summit when the port completes.

  5. 5 Close off your old service

Once your numbers are live with Summit, arrange to cancel any remaining services with your previous provider in line with your agreement.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Talking Business?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. It is not affiliated with Talking Business or Taipan Group.
Why switch if my Talking Business service is working?
If your current service does everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually review their provider when a contract is ending, when they are moving office, when their phone system is due for replacement, or when they want phones, internet and mobiles from one carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Talking Business. Check your contract terms before you switch, and where possible time the move to your contract end date.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes. Summit can port your existing numbers, including 1300 and 1800 numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
In many cases, yes. If your phone system supports SIP, Summit's SIP trunks can connect it to the phone network. If you would rather move to the cloud, Summit's Hosted PBX replaces it.
Can I use Microsoft Teams as my phone system?
Yes. Summit connects Teams to the phone network through Direct Routing. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep your existing Microsoft arrangement.
Do I need to move my internet to Summit as well?
No. Summit's phones work over other internet connections. If your internet is also with Summit, voice traffic is prioritised, and everything sits on one bill.
What happens to my 1300 number and fax to email?
Summit provides 1300 and 1800 numbers and fax to email, and can port your existing inbound numbers so callers see no change.
How do I get started?
Request a quote or call 1300 049 749. You can also see other provider switch guides on the Switch to Summit page.
