Overview

Switchnode is an Australian provider that sells business internet and business phone services. Its business internet is delivered over the nbn with a static IP and an optional 4G backup SIM, and its Business VoIP service is a configurable cloud phone system with a mobile app. Switchnode also offers a service that puts a business landline number on a mobile phone.

Businesses review their provider for ordinary reasons: a contract is ending, the office is moving, the team has outgrown its phone system, or they want internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers business nbn with a static IP, Ethernet over fibre, fixed wireless across Melbourne and regional Victoria, a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and Microsoft Teams Calling, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Switchnode.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

If you use a hosted phone system today, Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. We can preconfigure your handsets and ship them to you.

  • Take Your Business Number Anywhere

The Hosted PBX mobile and desktop apps let your team make and take calls on your business number from their own phone or laptop, so customers see the business number rather than a personal mobile.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

Running your own phone system? SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Business Internet With a Static IP

Business nbn comes with a static IP included, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. For sites that need dedicated capacity, we offer Ethernet over fibre.

  • 4G Backup That Fails Over Automatically

4G Backup switches to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, if your main connection drops, then fails back automatically when it returns.

  • Fixed Wireless in Melbourne and Regional Victoria

If your premises is in our footprint, fixed wireless runs across 500+ suburbs with symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps, installed in 10 business days or your first month is free.

  • Internet, Phones and Mobile on One Bill

When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Add business mobile SIM plans and 1300 and 1800 numbers, and it all arrives on one bill.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share a recent bill or a list of your services: internet, phone numbers, phone system users and mobiles. We map each one to its Summit equivalent.

  2. 2 Check your contract end date

We help you time the switch so you avoid paying out a contract you do not need to.

  3. 3 Order the new internet first

Your Summit connection is installed and tested before anything changes on your phones.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port request for your existing numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Go live, then cancel

Once your numbers are working on Summit, you cancel the old services. Preconfigured handsets and apps mean your team can start making calls straight away.

Why Switchnode Customers Choose Summit

  • 01

A Network We Build, Own and Operate

Summit builds, owns and operates its own network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard. Your internet and voice run on infrastructure we control.

  • 02

    Voice and Internet Designed Together

Because we supply both, your phone calls get priority over other traffic on your Summit connection. That is hard to arrange when your internet and phones come from different places.

  • 03

    A Licensed Carrier Since 2000

Summit holds ACMA Carrier Licence #388 and has served Australian businesses for 26 years.

  • 04

    Flexible Voice Options

Cloud phone system, SIP trunks for your own PBX, or Microsoft Teams Calling: choose the one that fits how your team works, and change later if your needs change.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Switchnode?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Switchnode or any of its partners.
Why switch if my Switchnode service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually talk to us when a contract is ending, they are moving office, they want internet and phones from one carrier, or they want a provider that deals only with businesses.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Switchnode. Check your contract end date and any early termination terms, and we will help you time the switch to your contract end.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
I use Switchnode Business VoIP. What would I move to?
Most cloud phone users move to our Hosted PBX, which includes auto attendant, call queues, ring groups, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. If you would rather keep your own phone system, we can supply SIP trunks instead.
Can my team answer the business number on their mobiles?
Yes. The Hosted PBX mobile app lets your team make and receive calls on the business number from their own mobile, and ring groups and call queues decide who answers and when.
My Switchnode internet has a static IP and 4G backup. Can Summit match that?
Business nbn from Summit includes a static IP, and 4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network if your main connection drops.
Do I have to move everything at once?
No. Some businesses move their internet first and their phones later, or the other way round. We plan the order around your contracts and your team.
Do you sell residential services?
No. Summit is business-only.
