Overview

Switch Telecom is an Australian business telecommunications provider with a head office in Williams Landing, Melbourne, and an office in North Sydney. It sells voice services including Cloud PBX, SIP services, Microsoft Teams Calling and 13/1300/1800 inbound numbers, along with Business nbn, nbn Enterprise Ethernet, enterprise fibre, 5G wireless WAN and failover, SD-WAN, Telstra mobile and IoT solutions.

Plenty of businesses review their telco even when nothing is wrong. A contract is coming to an end, the office is moving, the phone system is due for a refresh, or you simply want your internet and phones supplied by the carrier that actually runs the network they travel over. Some businesses also prefer a provider that only serves businesses.

Summit Internet has been building and running its own business network for 26 years. We supply business nbn with a static IP included, Ethernet over fibre, a Hosted PBX cloud phone system, SIP trunks for existing phone systems, Microsoft Teams Calling, 1300 and 1800 numbers, 4G Backup and business mobile SIM plans, all on one bill.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Switch Telecom.

How Summit Helps

  • Internet and phones from one carrier

Put your internet, phone system and mobiles with Summit and they arrive on one bill from one provider. When the internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS so calls stay clear when the line is busy.

  • Business nbn with a static IP included

Our business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included, and up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. It suits offices running cloud apps, remote access and VoIP.

  • Ethernet over fibre for sites that need more

If your business currently relies on enterprise fibre or Enterprise Ethernet, ask us about Ethernet over fibre. It runs on Summit's own network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard.

  • A cloud phone system with every feature included

Summit's Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording, and mobile and desktop apps. We can preconfigure handsets and ship them to your office.

  • SIP trunks for the phone system you already own

If you have an on-premises phone system, our SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volume changes.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

Make and receive external calls in Microsoft Teams through Teams Calling via Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licences, as Summit does not resell them.

  • 1300 and 1800 numbers

Bring your 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers across and route them to the right people, along with fax to email and on-hold messaging.

  • Backup connectivity and mobiles

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) and fails back when your main link returns. Add business mobile SIM plans to the same account.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Send us a recent bill or a list of your services, such as nbn or fibre links, SIP trunks, cloud phone users, inbound numbers and mobiles, and your contract end date.

  2. 2 Get a clear proposal

We recommend the matching Summit services and plan the timing so the switch lines up with the end of your current agreement where possible.

  3. 3 Install the new connection

We install your Summit internet service and set up your phone system, SIP trunks or Teams Calling, with handsets preconfigured if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your Switch Telecom voice service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers are live with Summit and everything is tested, you cancel the remaining services with your old provider.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Switch Telecom?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We have no affiliation with Switch Telecom.
Why switch if my Switch Telecom service is working?
If your current services do everything your business needs, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, they are moving office, they are replacing a phone system, or they want internet and phones from one carrier that runs its own network.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Switch Telecom. Check your contract term and any early termination charges, and we can time your switch to line up with the end of the contract.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can generally be ported to Summit, including local numbers and 1300 and 1800 numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.
How long does number porting take?
The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and ports involving multiple numbers can take up to 30 days. We plan the cutover with you to keep disruption to your phones to a minimum.
I use Microsoft Teams for calls. Can Summit support that?
Yes. Summit provides Teams Calling via Direct Routing, so your staff can make and receive external calls in Teams. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep your existing licensing arrangements.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
Yes. If you own an on-premises phone system, Summit SIP trunks can connect it, starting from 2 channels. If you would rather move to the cloud, our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month.
Does Summit offer internet nationally?
Yes. Summit's business nbn is available to Australian businesses nationally with a static IP included. Our fixed wireless network is available in Melbourne and regional Victoria; you can check coverage for your address.
Can I move my mobiles as well?
Yes. Summit offers business mobile SIM plans and 4G Backup, so mobiles can sit on the same bill as your internet and phones.
