Overview

Switch Connect is a technology provider with offices in Brisbane, Canberra and Sydney. Its business range covers converged communications, including Microsoft Teams Phone with Direct Routing and Operator Connect, Webex Calling, SIP trunking and cloud PBX, as well as cloud and connectivity services such as nbn Enterprise Ethernet, alongside Microsoft 365, cyber security and managed services.

Businesses review their providers for plenty of reasons: a contract is ending, the team is moving office, or they want their phones and the internet connection those phones depend on to come from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and Microsoft Teams Calling, plus business nbn with a static IP, Ethernet over fibre, 4G backup and business mobiles, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Switch Connect.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording, and mobile and desktop apps. Handsets can be preconfigured and shipped to your office.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Have

If you run your own phone system, our SIP trunks connect it to the phone network. Start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing

If your staff live in Teams, we connect Teams Calling to the phone network through Direct Routing. You keep buying your Microsoft licences as you do today, since Summit does not resell them.

  • Business nbn and Fibre on Our Own Network

Business nbn comes with a static IP included, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. For sites that need dedicated capacity, we offer Ethernet over fibre. Our network has Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard.

  • Voice Prioritised on Your Connection

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS, so calls are not competing with large downloads and uploads on the same link.

  • 4G Backup That Fails Over Automatically

4G Backup switches your connection to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) if your primary link drops, then fails back automatically when it returns.

  • One Bill for Internet, Phones and Mobile

Internet, phones and business mobile SIM plans all sit on one Summit bill, with one carrier to call about all of them.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current phone setup, numbers, sites and internet services, plus when your existing agreement ends. We will recommend the right mix of voice and connectivity.

  2. 2 Get a clear quote

We send a written quote covering phones, internet and any backup or mobile services, so you can compare it against your renewal.

  3. 3 Set up your new services

We install your connection and configure your Hosted PBX, SIP trunks or Teams Calling, including preconfigured handsets if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers are working on Summit and your new connection is live, you can cancel the services you no longer need with your previous provider.

  • As a reseller, we primarily work with Summit’s 4G services and have been very impressed. The plans are affordable, flexible, and well suited to our customers—especially for internet failover solutions. The sales and support teams are responsive and genuinely helpful, which is why we’re proud to partner with Summit Internet. We happily recommend them.Read more

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Switch Connect?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Switch Connect.
Why switch if my Switch Connect service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is coming up for renewal, when they move office, or when they want their phones and internet from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with your current provider. Check your contract terms, and if there is an early termination fee, time your switch to line up with the end of your contract.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, we can port your existing numbers to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can Summit connect Microsoft Teams to the phone network?
Yes. We provide Microsoft Teams Calling through Direct Routing. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep your existing licensing arrangements.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
If your phone system supports SIP, our SIP trunks can connect it to the phone network. Start from 2 channels and scale up or down as needed.
What internet services does Summit offer?
Business nbn nationally with a static IP included and up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn, Ethernet over fibre, 4G Static IP and 4G Backup. In Melbourne and regional Victoria, we also offer our own fixed wireless network. Check your coverage.
Can I move my phones and internet to Summit at the same time?
Yes. Many businesses move both together so that one carrier is responsible for the connection and the calls that run over it. We plan the order of installation and porting with you to keep disruption to a minimum.
