Overview

Spark Connect is a business telecommunications provider with an address in Carrum Downs, Victoria. Its website lists outbound voice services (Directline, IP Voice and ISDN), inbound 13, 1300 and 1800 numbers with IVR, Microsoft Teams Calling, cloud unified communications, collaboration tools, SD-WAN, data encryption and business internet, delivered through what it describes as tier one carrier partnerships.

Businesses review their phone provider for plenty of reasons: a contract is ending, the team is moving office, older phone lines need replacing with a modern voice service, or they want their phones and the internet connection those phones depend on to come from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks, Microsoft Teams Calling and 1300 and 1800 numbers, plus business nbn with a static IP, 4G backup and business mobiles, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Spark Connect.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. Every feature is included, and we can preconfigure handsets and ship them to you ready to plug in.

  • SIP Trunks for a Phone System You Already Own

If your business runs its own phone system on traditional lines or IP voice today, SIP trunks connect it to the phone network. Start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your team works in Teams, Teams Calling connects it to the phone network through Direct Routing, so staff make and take calls on their business numbers from Teams. You keep buying your Microsoft licences as you do now.

  • 1300 and 1800 Inbound Numbers

Keep customers calling the number they know. We provide 1300 and 1800 numbers with call routing, and add fax to email and on-hold messaging where you need them.

  • Voice Prioritised on Your Own Carrier's Network

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Business nbn comes with a static IP included, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn, and Ethernet over fibre is available for sites that need dedicated bandwidth. Our network has Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres with DDoS protection as standard.

  • 4G Backup for When the Line Drops

A cloud phone system needs a working connection. 4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back automatically when your main service returns.

  • Internet, Phones and Mobile on One Bill

Your phone system, internet connection and business mobile SIM plans can all come from Summit on one bill. For businesses in Melbourne and regional Victoria, Summit fixed wireless is also available.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have today

List your phone numbers, including any 13, 1300 or 1800 numbers, your lines or channels, users, call flows and internet services, and when your Spark Connect agreement ends.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend the right phone setup, whether Hosted PBX, Teams Calling or SIP trunks, plus internet and backup if you want them, and send you a written quote.

  3. 3 Set up your new service

We build your auto attendant, ring groups and queues to match how your team works, connect your internet if it is moving too, and preconfigure and ship handsets if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We port your existing numbers across. Keep your Spark Connect service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel once you are live

When your numbers have moved and calls are working, you cancel the old service.

Why Spark Connect Customers Choose Summit

  • 01

Phones and Internet From One Carrier

A voice service is only as good as the connection under it. With Summit, the phone system, the internet connection and the backup all come from one carrier, so one team is responsible for the whole path a call takes.

  • 02

    A Licensed Australian Carrier

Summit holds ACMA Carrier Licence #388 and has been connecting Australian businesses since August 2000. We build, own and operate our own network rather than reselling someone else's.

  • 03

A Clear Path Off Older Lines

Whether you are on traditional lines, IP voice or a phone system you own, we can match you with Hosted PBX, SIP trunks or Teams Calling and move your numbers without changing what your customers dial.

  • 04

    Built Only for Businesses

We do not sell residential services. Our products and support are designed for businesses that depend on their phones every day.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Spark Connect?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Spark Connect, and this page is not endorsed by Spark Connect.
Why switch if my Spark Connect service is working?
If your Spark Connect service does everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually talk to us when a contract is ending, when they are moving office, when they are replacing older phone lines, or when they want their phones, internet and mobiles from one business-only carrier.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, in most cases. We port your existing local numbers and 1300 and 1800 numbers to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Spark Connect. Check your contract end date and any early termination terms, and we can time your switch so the new service is ready when your current term finishes.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
Often, yes. If your phone system supports SIP, SIP trunks can connect it to the phone network, starting from 2 channels. If it is due for replacement, Hosted PBX moves your phone system to the cloud.
We use Microsoft Teams. Can Summit connect our calls to it?
Yes. Teams Calling uses Direct Routing to connect Teams to the phone network so your staff can use their business numbers in Teams. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep your existing Microsoft arrangement.
Do I need to move my internet to Summit as well?
No, but it helps. Our voice services work over other connections, and when your internet is also with Summit, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS and one carrier looks after the whole service.
Does Summit sell residential services?
No. Summit is business-only. We sell internet, phones and mobiles to Australian businesses.
