Overview

Soundwave Communications is a telecommunications company based in Abbotsford, Victoria, that sells to businesses. Its range covers business internet (nbn, fibre and wireless networks), a Hosted PBX cloud phone service, point to point and point to multipoint data networks, data centre services and cloud backup, and it runs a wholesale partner program.

Businesses review their provider for plenty of reasons: a contract is ending, the team is moving office, or they want their phones and the internet connection those phones run over to come from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks, business nbn with a static IP, Ethernet over fibre, fixed wireless across Melbourne and regional Victoria, and 4G backup, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Soundwave Communications.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. We have been a business-only carrier for 26 years.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording, and mobile and desktop apps. Handsets can be preconfigured and shipped to you.

  • Phones and Internet From One Carrier

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Internet, phones and mobile arrive on one bill from one provider.

  • Business nbn With a Static IP

Business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included, and up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. It suits offices that run cloud phones, remote access and cloud software.

  • Fixed Wireless Across Melbourne and Regional Victoria

For businesses in Melbourne and regional Victoria, our fixed wireless network covers 500+ suburbs with symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps. It is installed in 10 business days or the first month is free. Check your address.

  • Ethernet Over Fibre for Larger Sites

Sites that need dedicated capacity can move to Ethernet over fibre, carried on Summit's own network with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard.

  • 4G Backup That Fails Over Automatically

4G Backup switches your connection to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) if your main service drops, and fails back automatically when it returns.

  • SIP Trunks and Teams Calling Options

If you would rather keep an on-premises phone system, SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down. Teams users can make and take calls through Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current phone numbers, user count, sites and internet services, and when your existing agreement ends.

  2. 2 Get a tailored quote

We recommend the phone system and connection that fit each site, whether that is business nbn, fixed wireless or Ethernet over fibre, with 4G backup where it makes sense.

  3. 3 Install your connection

We install your new internet service and preconfigure your handsets or apps, so everything is ready before your numbers move.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current phone service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers are live with Summit and your internet is running, you can arrange to close your old services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Soundwave Communications?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Soundwave Communications.
Why switch if my Soundwave Communications service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually review their provider when a contract is ending, when they are moving office, or when they want phones and internet from one business-only carrier that owns its network.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on the terms of your agreement with Soundwave Communications. Check your contract end date and any early termination terms, and we can time your switch to line up with the end of your contract.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can Summit replace both my phone system and internet?
Yes. We provide a Hosted PBX cloud phone system alongside business nbn, fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria, Ethernet over fibre and 4G backup, all on one bill.
Is Summit's fixed wireless available at my address?
Summit's fixed wireless covers 500+ suburbs across Melbourne and regional Victoria. You can check your coverage online. Outside those areas, we offer business nbn nationally.
What does Summit's Hosted PBX include?
Every feature is included from $10 per user per month: auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording, and mobile and desktop apps. On-hold messaging is available too.
Do you offer 1300 and 1800 numbers?
Yes. We provide 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers, and existing inbound numbers can be ported across.
