Overview

SmileTel is the telecommunications division of Smile IT, based in Tingalpa, Queensland. It sells business phone, internet and mobile services, including cloud phone systems, Microsoft Teams Calling and SIP trunks for existing phone systems, business internet supplied through carrier partners, Starlink and 4G backup, and business mobile plans, along with retail, franchise and multi-site packages.

Plenty of businesses review their provider at some point. A contract is coming to an end, the business is moving office or opening another site, or the team simply wants internet and phones delivered by the carrier that runs the network rather than through several suppliers.

Summit Internet builds, owns and operates its own network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres. We supply business nbn with a static IP included, Ethernet over fibre, a Hosted PBX cloud phone system, SIP trunks, Microsoft Teams Calling and business mobile plans, and we only work with businesses.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with SmileTel.

How Summit Helps

  • Internet and Phones From One Carrier

Your internet, phone system and mobiles sit on one network and one bill. When the internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS, so calls get first use of the link.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month, with auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps all included. Handsets can be preconfigured and shipped to your office ready to plug in.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

If you run your own PBX, Summit SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change. There is no need to replace hardware that still does the job.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your staff live in Teams, we connect it to the phone network with Direct Routing, so people make and take business calls in the app they already use. You keep your existing Microsoft licensing; Summit does not resell Microsoft licences.

  • Business nbn and Fibre With a Static IP

Business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included, at up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. For sites that need dedicated capacity, we offer Ethernet over fibre. DDoS protection is standard.

  • 4G Backup That Fails Over Automatically

Summit 4G Backup switches to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, if your fixed service drops, then fails back automatically when it returns.

  • Business Mobile Plans

Add business mobile SIM plans to the same account so your mobiles, phones and internet are billed together.

  • Inbound Numbers and Extras

We provide 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging, so the numbers your customers already know keep working.

How It Works

  1. 1 Talk to us

Tell us what you have today: internet services, phone system or SIP trunks, numbers and mobiles. We will recommend a setup that fits your sites.

  2. 2 Get a quote

You receive a clear quote for internet, voice and mobile, so you can compare it against your current agreement and plan the timing around your contract end.

  3. 3 Install and set up

We connect your internet, configure your Hosted PBX, SIP trunks or Teams Calling, and preconfigure handsets if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We port your existing numbers across. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers have ported and everything is working on Summit, you can cancel your remaining services with your previous provider.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of SmileTel?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with SmileTel or Smile IT.
Why switch if my SmileTel service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually talk to us when a contract is ending, they are moving or adding a site, or they want internet, phones and mobile from a carrier that runs its own network.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with your current provider. Check your contract terms before you switch. Many businesses time the move to their contract end date, and we can plan the installation around it.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
If your PBX supports SIP, you can connect it to Summit SIP trunks, starting from 2 channels. If you would rather move to the cloud, our Hosted PBX replaces the on-site system.
Do you support Microsoft Teams Calling?
Yes. We connect Teams to the phone network using Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licences, as Summit does not resell them.
Do you offer internet backup?
Yes. Summit 4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network and fails back when your fixed service returns.
Can you supply business nbn at all our sites?
Business nbn is available nationally, with a static IP included. Request a quote with your site addresses and we will confirm the options for each one.
Can I move my 1300 or 1800 number?
Yes. We provide 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers and can port your existing inbound numbers across.
