Overview

Smartalk is an Australian-owned business telecommunications provider based in Sydney Olympic Park, NSW. It sells hosted PBX phone systems, SIP trunking for on-premise phone systems, 1300 and 1800 numbers, business nbn and internet services, and mobile and data plans.

Businesses review their telco for plenty of reasons: a contract is ending, the team is moving office, or they want their phone system and the internet connection those calls run over to come from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks, 1300 and 1800 numbers and Microsoft Teams Calling, alongside business nbn with a static IP, 4G backup and business mobiles, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Smartalk.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. Handsets can be preconfigured and shipped to your office ready to plug in.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

If you run an on-premise phone system, our SIP trunks connect it to the network. Start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volume changes.

  • Your 1300 and 1800 Numbers, Kept

We provide 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers and can port your existing numbers across, so the numbers on your website, vehicles and stationery keep working.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your staff live in Teams, we connect it to the phone network with Teams Calling via Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licences; Summit does not resell them.

  • Business nbn With a Static IP

Our business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included, up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. For larger sites we also offer Ethernet over fibre.

  • Voice Prioritised on Our Own Network

When your internet connection is also with Summit, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Our network has Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard.

  • Backup and Mobiles on the Same Bill

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back automatically. Add business mobile SIM plans and your internet, phones and mobiles are on one bill.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current services, phone numbers, handsets and contract end date, and we will recommend the right mix of phone system, SIP trunks, internet and mobiles.

  2. 2 Get a clear quote

We set out what each service costs and how the move will run, so you can time the switch to suit your contract.

  3. 3 Set up the new services

We install your internet connection and configure your phone system or SIP trunks, with handsets preconfigured and shipped if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port for your existing numbers. Keep your Smartalk services active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers are live with Summit and everything is working, you can arrange to cancel your old services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Smartalk?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Smartalk in any way.
Why switch if my Smartalk service is working?
If your current services do everything your business needs, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, they are moving office, or they want their phones and internet from one business-only carrier with its own network.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Smartalk. Check your contract terms for any early termination charges. Many businesses time the switch to their contract end date, and we can plan the move around it.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes. We can port your existing local numbers and 1300 and 1800 numbers to Summit. Keep your current services active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing on-premise phone system?
Yes. If you run your own PBX, our SIP trunks connect it to the network, starting from 2 channels. If you would rather move to the cloud, our Hosted PBX is an option.
Do you support Microsoft Teams calling?
Yes. We provide Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep your existing licensing arrangements.
Can you provide our business nbn as well?
Yes. Our business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included, and you can add 4G Backup for automatic failover.
Do you offer business mobiles?
Yes. We offer business mobile SIM plans, so your mobiles can sit on the same bill as your internet and phones.
