Overview

Smart Business Voice is a Brisbane-based supplier of business phone systems, headquartered in Kedron. It designs, installs and supports hosted (cloud) phone systems, on-premises systems and Microsoft Teams calling, supplies Yealink handsets and conferencing solutions, and works with a UCaaS provider for its hosted service. It sits alongside Smart Business Systems, an IT support business.

Businesses review their phone provider for plenty of reasons: an agreement is ending, the team is moving office, an on-premises phone system is due for replacement, or they want their phones and the internet connection those phones depend on to come from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks for phone systems you own and Microsoft Teams Calling, plus business nbn with a static IP, 4G backup and business mobiles for Australian businesses, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Smart Business Voice.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. Every feature is included, so there are no add-ons to work out per user.

  • Handsets Preconfigured and Shipped

If your team uses desk phones or conference phones today, we can preconfigure the handsets and ship them to you, so they are set up before they arrive.

  • SIP Trunks for an On-Premises System

Already own a phone system on site and want to keep it? SIP trunks connect it to the phone network, starting from 2 channels and scaling up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your team works in Teams, Teams Calling connects it to the phone network through Direct Routing, so staff make and take calls on their business numbers from Teams. You keep buying your Microsoft licences as you do now.

  • Voice Prioritised on Your Own Carrier's Network

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Business nbn comes with a static IP included, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn, and our network has Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres with DDoS protection as standard.

  • 4G Backup for When the Line Drops

A cloud phone system needs a working connection. 4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back automatically when your main service returns.

  • Inbound Numbers, Mobiles and One Bill

Add 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email, on-hold messaging and business mobile SIM plans. Internet, phones and mobile arrive on one bill.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us how you use your phones

List your numbers, users, handsets, call flows and any on-site phone system, and when your current agreement ends.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend the right setup, whether Hosted PBX, Teams Calling or SIP trunks for a system you keep, plus internet and backup if you want them, and send you a written quote.

  3. 3 Set up your phone system

We build your auto attendant, ring groups and queues to match how your team works, and preconfigure and ship handsets if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We port your existing numbers across. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel once you are live

When your numbers have moved and calls are working, you cancel the old service.

Why Smart Business Voice Customers Choose Summit

  • 01

Phones and Internet From One Carrier

A cloud phone system is only as good as the connection under it. With Summit, the phone system, the internet connection and the backup all come from one carrier, so one team is responsible for the whole path a call takes.

  • 02

    A Licensed Australian Carrier

Summit holds ACMA Carrier Licence #388 and has been connecting Australian businesses since August 2000. We build, own and operate our own network.

  • 03

Every Feature, One Price Per User

Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included, so adding a call queue or call recording does not change your plan.

  • 04

    Built Only for Businesses

We do not sell residential services. Our products and support are designed for businesses that depend on their phones every day.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Smart Business Voice?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Smart Business Voice or Smart Business Systems, and this page is not endorsed by either.
Why switch if my Smart Business Voice service is working?
If your current phone system does everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually talk to us when an agreement is ending, when they are moving office, or when they want their phone system, internet and mobiles from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on the terms of your agreement with Smart Business Voice. Check your agreement for any minimum term or early termination charges, and where you can, time the switch so it lines up with the end of your contract.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, in most cases we can port your existing numbers to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my on-premises phone system?
Often, yes. If your system supports SIP, SIP trunks can connect it to the phone network, starting from 2 channels. If you would rather move to the cloud, Hosted PBX replaces the system on site.
Can I use Microsoft Teams for calls?
Yes. Teams Calling uses Direct Routing to connect Teams to the phone network. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep buying those as you do now.
Can my new desk phones arrive ready to use?
Yes. With Hosted PBX we can preconfigure the handsets and ship them to you, so your team can plug them in and start taking calls.
Do you provide the internet connection too?
Yes. Summit provides business nbn with a static IP included, Ethernet over fibre and 4G Backup. When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS.
