Overview

Skynet Broadband is an internet and IT services provider based in the Shoalhaven region of New South Wales, serving the Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands. It started out with microwave radio internet before the nbn rollout. Its business range now includes business fibre, business nbn, hosted phone systems (VoIP), data hosting, IT managed services and mobile SIMs.

There are plenty of good reasons to review a provider without anything being wrong. A contract is coming to an end. You are moving office or opening a new site. You want your internet and phones from one carrier that owns its network, with voice traffic prioritised end to end. Or you would simply rather deal with a provider whose whole network and team are built around business customers.

Summit Internet is a business-only carrier. We build, own and operate our own network with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres, and we supply Business nbn, Ethernet over fibre, a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and business mobile plans to Australian businesses.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Skynet Broadband.

How Summit Helps

  • Business nbn With a Static IP Included

Our Business nbn plans are available nationally, with a static IP included and speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. Every service sits behind DDoS protection as standard.

  • Dedicated Fibre for Growing Sites

If your business fibre service is up for renewal, look at Ethernet over fibre from Summit. We will scope the right option for each of your sites.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Moving from a hosted VoIP system? Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month, with auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps all included. We can preconfigure handsets and ship them to your office.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Have

If you would rather keep your existing PBX, our SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volume changes.

  • Keep Your Numbers, Including 1300 and 1800

We port your existing numbers across, and we supply 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging, so your customers keep calling the numbers they already know.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your team works in Teams, we connect it to the phone network through Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licences; we provide the calling.

  • 4G Backup That Fails Over Automatically

4G Backup switches your site to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) if your main link drops, then fails back automatically when it returns.

  • Internet, Phones and Mobile on One Bill

Add business mobile SIM plans and everything sits with one carrier. When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised across the connection.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Send us a recent bill or a list of your services: fibre or nbn connections, hosted phone system, numbers and mobiles. We will map each one to a Summit equivalent.

  2. 2 Get a clear quote

We recommend the right internet, voice and mobile setup for each site and show you exactly what it costs. Request a quote to get started.

  3. 3 Install your new connection

We connect your new internet service first, so your business is on Summit's network before anything else changes.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current phone service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers are live with Summit and everything is working, you cancel the remaining services with your old provider.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Skynet Broadband?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388, and we have been in business since August 2000. We are not affiliated with Skynet Broadband in any way.
Why switch if my Skynet Broadband service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, when they are moving or adding a site, or when they want internet, phones and mobiles from one business-only carrier that owns its network.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Skynet Broadband. Check your contract end date and any early termination terms before you switch. We can help you time the move so your Summit services start as your current contract finishes.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, in most cases. We port your existing numbers to Summit, including 1300 and 1800 numbers. Keep your current phone service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing phone handsets?
Tell us which handsets you use and we will let you know. If you need new handsets for our Hosted PBX, we can preconfigure them and ship them to your office.
Is Business nbn available at my office?
Summit's Business nbn is available nationally, with a static IP included. Tell us your address and we will confirm which nbn technology and speeds are available there.
What if I already have a phone system on site?
You may be able to keep it. Our SIP trunks are designed for existing phone systems, starting from 2 channels and scaling up or down as you need.
Can my mobiles move to Summit too?
Yes. We offer business mobile SIM plans, so your internet, phones and mobiles can all sit on one bill.
