Overview

SJH Communications, which also trades as SJH Communication Solutions, is a telecommunications service provider based in Maitland, NSW, serving Newcastle, Maitland and the wider Hunter Valley. For businesses it provides nbn internet plans, including an nbn failover option, business phone systems such as 3CX and hosted VoIP, commercial WiFi, data cabling and phone line maintenance.

Businesses review their provider for ordinary reasons: a contract is ending, they are moving office or opening a second site, or they want internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses and runs its own network.

Summit offers business nbn with a static IP, Ethernet over fibre, automatic 4G backup, a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and Microsoft Teams Calling to Australian businesses. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with SJH Communications.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • Business nbn With a Static IP

Business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included, and speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. We also offer Ethernet over fibre.

  • Automatic 4G Backup

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, if your fixed connection drops. When the main link returns, it fails back on its own.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. We can preconfigure your handsets and ship them to you.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

Want to keep your existing phone system? SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Voice Prioritised on Our Own Network

When your internet connection is also with Summit, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Our network is built, owned and operated by Summit, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your team lives in Teams, Teams Calling via Direct Routing lets staff make and take external calls from Teams. You keep your existing Microsoft licensing; Summit does not resell Microsoft licences.

  • One Bill for Internet, Phones and Mobile

Add 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email, on-hold messaging and business mobile SIM plans, all on one bill.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

List your current internet services, phone numbers, phone system and any 1300 or 1800 numbers, and check when your agreement with your current provider ends.

  2. 2 Get a tailored quote

We recommend internet, voice and backup options for each site and confirm what is available at your address.

  3. 3 Install your new services

We connect your new internet service and set up your Hosted PBX or SIP trunks, with handsets preconfigured if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current phone service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers have ported and everything is working, cancel any remaining services with your previous provider.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of SJH Communications?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier, holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388, and is not affiliated with SJH Communications.
Why switch if my SJH Communications service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, when they are moving or adding a site, or when they want internet and phones from a single business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with your current provider. Check your contract terms, and if possible time your switch to line up with the end of your contract.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, in most cases your existing numbers can be ported to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and ports involving multiple numbers can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
If you want to keep the phone system you have, Summit's SIP trunks connect it to our network, starting from 2 channels. Tell us which system you use and we will confirm the setup when we quote.
Do you offer business nbn in the Hunter region?
Summit's business nbn is available nationally, with a static IP included. We confirm availability at your address when we prepare your quote.
What happens if my internet connection drops?
With 4G Backup, your connection fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network and fails back when the main link is restored.
Do you offer fixed wireless outside Victoria?
No. Summit's fixed wireless network covers Melbourne and regional Victoria only. Outside that area we offer business nbn, Ethernet over fibre and 4G options.
