Overview

SipTel is an Australian business communications provider that sells business VoIP and cloud PBX phone systems, Microsoft Teams calling, business internet on the nbn and Opticomm networks, 4G and 5G failover, mobile plans, an SMS gateway and IP desk phones. It lists its service areas as Sydney and the surrounding Campbelltown, Liverpool, Parramatta, Camden and Macarthur regions.

Businesses review their provider for plenty of reasons: an internet contract is coming to the end of its term, the team is moving office, or they want their phones and the internet connection those phones run over to come from a carrier that deals only with businesses and runs its own network.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and Microsoft Teams Calling, plus business nbn with a static IP, 4G backup and business mobiles, all on one bill. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with SipTel.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. We work only with businesses, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. Every feature is included.

  • Desk Phones Ready to Plug In

If your team prefers handsets, we can preconfigure them and ship them to you, so they work as soon as they are plugged in.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

Teams Calling connects Microsoft Teams to the phone network through Direct Routing, so staff make and take calls on their business numbers from Teams. You keep buying your Microsoft licences as you do now.

  • Business nbn With a Static IP

Business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included, at up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. For sites that need more, we also offer Ethernet over fibre.

  • Calls Prioritised on Your Connection

When your internet connection is also with Summit, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS, so calls are not competing with downloads and cloud backups.

  • 4G Backup That Fails Over Automatically

4G Backup switches your connection to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, if your primary link drops, then fails back automatically when it returns.

  • Mobiles and 1300 Numbers on the Same Bill

Add business mobile SIM plans, 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging, so internet, phones and mobiles sit on one bill.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current services, phone numbers, handsets and contract end dates, and we will map them to Summit equivalents.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend the right mix of Hosted PBX, Teams Calling or SIP trunks, business nbn and backup, and quote it in writing.

  3. 3 Set up your new services

We install your internet, build your phone system with your call flows, and preconfigure any handsets before they ship.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current SipTel service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.

  5. 5 Go live

Calls start arriving on Summit, and you then cancel the remaining services with your old provider.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of SipTel?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with SipTel in any way.
Why switch if my SipTel service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, when they are moving office, or when they want phones and internet from one business-only carrier that runs its own network.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with SipTel. Check your contract terms and end date, and we can time the switch so your Summit services start as your current term finishes.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and ports involving multiple numbers can take up to 30 days.
Do you offer business nbn outside Melbourne?
Yes. Business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included. Fixed wireless is the service limited to Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Can I keep using Microsoft Teams for calls?
Yes. Summit provides Teams Calling through Direct Routing. We do not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep your existing licensing arrangement.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
If you own an on-premises PBX, SIP trunks can connect it to the phone network, starting from 2 channels. If you would rather move to the cloud, Hosted PBX replaces it.
What happens if my internet goes down?
With 4G Backup, your connection fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network and fails back when the primary link returns.
