Overview

ServeTel is a telecommunications provider based in Cherrybrook, in Sydney's north-west, that has marketed itself to small and medium businesses as "Your Total Telecommunication Partner". Its website, as archived in 2018, listed business phone services including Telstra rebill, Optus Multiline, ISDN2 and ISDN10/20/30, SIP and inbound numbers, along with business broadband, nbn and IP VPN data services. Its terms state that services are supplied through the carriers or networks it nominates.

Businesses review their phone provider for plenty of reasons: a contract is ending, the office is moving, older phone lines need replacing with something that works over the internet, or they simply want their phones and the internet connection those phones depend on to come from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks, 1300 and 1800 numbers and Microsoft Teams Calling, plus business nbn with a static IP, 4G backup and business mobiles, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Servetel.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

If you are replacing older business lines, Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. Every feature is included, so there are no add-ons to work out per user.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

Happy with your on-site PBX? SIP trunks connect it to the phone network over the internet, starting from 2 channels and scaling up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Handsets Ready to Plug In

Moving to Hosted PBX does not mean setting up phones yourself. We can preconfigure the handsets and ship them to you, so they work as soon as they are plugged in.

  • Keep Your 1300 and 1800 Numbers

The numbers on your website, signage and vehicles stay with you. We provide 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers, and existing inbound numbers can be ported across, along with fax to email and on-hold messaging.

  • Voice Prioritised on Your Own Carrier's Network

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Business nbn comes with a static IP included, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn, and Ethernet over fibre is available for sites that need a dedicated connection.

  • 4G Backup for When the Line Drops

Phones that run over the internet need a working connection. 4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back automatically when your main service returns.

  • Internet, Phones and Mobiles on One Bill

Add business mobile SIM plans and your internet, phones and mobiles arrive on one bill from one carrier.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have today

List your phone numbers and lines, any 1300 or 1800 numbers, the phone system in your office, your internet services and when your current agreement ends.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend the right setup, whether Hosted PBX, SIP trunks for your existing system or Teams Calling, plus internet and backup if you want them, and send you a written quote.

  3. 3 Set up your new service

We build your auto attendant, ring groups and queues to match how your business takes calls, and preconfigure and ship handsets if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We port your existing numbers across. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel once you are live

When your numbers have moved and calls are working, you cancel the old services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Servetel?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Servetel, and this page is not endorsed by Servetel.
Why switch if my Servetel service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually talk to us when a contract is ending, when they are moving office, when older phone lines need replacing, or when they want their phones, internet and mobiles from one business-only carrier.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes. We port your existing numbers to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Servetel. Check your terms, and if there is a minimum term, we can plan the switch so your Summit service is ready when it ends.
Can I keep my 1300 or 1800 number?
Yes. We provide 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers, and existing inbound numbers can be ported across in the same way as your other numbers.
Can I keep the phone system in my office?
Often, yes. If your phone system supports SIP, SIP trunks connect it to the phone network, starting from 2 channels. If it is time to replace it, Hosted PBX moves your phone system to the cloud.
What does Summit's cloud phone system include?
Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps included. We can preconfigure handsets and ship them to you.
Do I need to move my internet to Summit too?
No. Our phone services work over your existing connection. If you would like your internet with us as well, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS when the connection is also Summit's, and you get one bill for internet, phones and mobile.
What happens if my internet goes down?
Add 4G Backup. It fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back automatically when your main connection returns.
