Overview

Sedcom is a family-owned telecommunications business that has served Canberra businesses for more than three decades. It supplies business phone systems (including 3CX, hosted and NEC systems), Business VoIP plans with numbers and porting, 1300 and 1800 numbers, business nbn, handsets and headsets, and business WiFi, data cabling and network hardware for organisations in the ACT and surrounding region.

Businesses review their phone provider for ordinary reasons: a service agreement is ending, the office is moving, the phone system is due for replacement, or they want their internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks for existing phone systems, Microsoft Teams Calling and 1300/1800 numbers, along with business nbn with a static IP, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Sedcom (Business Phone Centre).

How Summit Helps

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Summit Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. There are no feature tiers to work through.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Have

If your current phone system still suits you, Summit SIP trunks can connect it to our network. Start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your business changes.

  • Keep Your Existing Numbers

We port your existing business numbers across, including 1300 and 1800 numbers, so customers keep calling the numbers they already know. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.

  • Handsets Ready to Plug In

For Hosted PBX customers, handsets can be preconfigured and shipped to your office, so they are ready to plug in.

  • 1300 and 1800 Numbers, Fax to Email and On-Hold Messaging

Inbound 1300 and 1800 numbers route to wherever your team is working. Fax to email and on-hold messaging are available too.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your staff live in Microsoft Teams, Summit Teams Calling connects it to the phone network via Direct Routing, so staff make and take calls from Teams. You keep your existing Microsoft licensing arrangement; Summit does not resell Microsoft licences.

  • Business nbn on the Same Bill

Summit business nbn includes a static IP and runs up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised, and internet, phones and mobile arrive on one bill.

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. We work only with businesses, and have been doing it for 26 years.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share how many staff, phone numbers and sites you have, what phone system you use today and when your current agreement ends.

  2. 2 Get a clear proposal

We recommend Hosted PBX, SIP trunks or Teams Calling based on how your business works, with business nbn if you want it on the same bill.

  3. 3 Port your numbers

We lodge the port for your existing numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  4. 4 Set up and test

For Hosted PBX, handsets can be preconfigured and shipped, and call flows such as auto attendants and ring groups are set up.

  5. 5 Cut over and cancel

Once your numbers are live on Summit, you can arrange to cancel your old services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Sedcom (Business Phone Centre)?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Sedcom (Business Phone Centre) in any way.
Why switch if my Sedcom (Business Phone Centre) service is working?
If your current services do everything your business needs, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually review their provider when an agreement is ending, when they are moving office or replacing a phone system, or when they want internet and phones from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on the terms of your agreement with your current provider. Check your contract end date and any exit terms, and we can time your switch to line up with the end of your agreement.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, in most cases. We can port your existing local numbers and 1300 and 1800 numbers to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
Often, yes. If your phone system supports SIP, Summit SIP trunks can connect it to our network, starting from 2 channels. If it is due for replacement, Hosted PBX removes the need for an on-site system.
How much does Summit Hosted PBX cost?
Summit Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month, with every feature included: auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps.
Do you supply handsets?
Yes. For Hosted PBX, handsets can be preconfigured and shipped to your office so they are ready to plug in.
Can Summit also provide our internet?
Yes. Summit business nbn includes a static IP and is available nationally, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. With your internet and phones both on Summit, voice traffic is prioritised and everything is on one bill.
Does Summit work with businesses outside Melbourne?
Yes. Summit serves Australian businesses, and our phone services and business nbn are available nationally. You can request a quote wherever your business is located.
