Overview
Roctel is an Australian business communications provider that says it has been operating since 2004. It sells to businesses: a hosted PBX and VoIP phone service, office phone lines including PSTN, ISDN, Multiline services and 1300 numbers, nbn and fibre internet, and 4G mobile plans, plus hosting and email.
Plenty of businesses stay with the same provider for years, and that is fine if it still fits. The usual reasons to look around are a contract coming to an end, a move to a new office, older phone lines that need replacing with a cloud phone system, or simply wanting internet and phones from one carrier that only deals with businesses.
Summit has been doing exactly that for 26 years. We build, own and operate our own network, supply Business nbn with a static IP included, run a full-featured Hosted PBX cloud phone system, provide SIP trunks for existing phone systems, and look after 1300 and 1800 numbers and business mobile plans. When your phones and internet are both on Summit, your voice traffic is prioritised across the connection.
Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Roctel.
How Summit Helps
-
A cloud phone system with every feature included
Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month, and auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps are all included. There are no feature tiers to work out.
-
SIP trunks if you are keeping your phone system
If your office already has a phone system you want to keep, our SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volume changes.
-
A path off older office lines
If your business still runs PSTN or Multiline services, we can move those numbers onto a Hosted PBX or SIP trunks over your internet connection. Fax to email is available for the machines that still need a number.
-
Keep your local and 1300 numbers
We port existing numbers across, including inbound 1300 and 1800 numbers. Your customers keep dialling the same numbers they always have.
-
Business nbn with a static IP included
Business nbn is available nationally, with a static IP included and speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. Where you need a dedicated fibre service, we also supply Ethernet over fibre.
-
Voice prioritised over your own connection
When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Calls are not left competing with large downloads and video meetings.
-
Business mobile on the same account
Business mobile SIM plans sit on the same bill as your internet and phones, so there is one account to manage.
-
4G Backup for when the line drops
4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back when your main service returns.
How It Works
- 1 Tell us what you have
Tell us what you have
List your current services: internet, phone lines and numbers, handsets or phone system, 1300 numbers and mobiles. A recent bill is the quickest way to capture it.
- 2 Get a clear quote
Get a clear quote
We recommend the internet, phone system and mobile plans that fit how your business works, and send a written quote.
- 3 Install internet and set up phones
Install internet and set up phones
We connect your new internet service and configure your Hosted PBX or SIP trunks, call flows and handsets before anything changes over. Handsets can be preconfigured and shipped to your office.
- 4 Port your numbers
Port your numbers
We lodge the port for your existing numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
- 5 Cancel the old services
Cancel the old services
Once your numbers are live on Summit and everything is working, you cancel the remaining services with your old provider.

We recently moved our dental practice over to Summit for phone services, and the experience has been excellent from start to finish. The team has been responsive, professional, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire setup process. The transition was smooth, any issues were addressed promptly, and communication was always clear and efficient. Reliable phones and internet are essential for a busy practice like ours, and Summit has delivered exactly that. A special thank you to Michael for his patience and ongoing assistance during the transition. Highly recommend Summit to any business looking for reliable service and great customer support.Read more

After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more
