Overview

Quantum Voice & Data is a business communications provider based in Camberwell, Victoria. Its website lists business fibre internet, dark fibre, managed VPN and data networking, SIP trunks, hosted voice, PABX systems, Microsoft Teams lines, and 13, 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers for Australian businesses.

There are good reasons to review any provider from time to time. Your contract may be coming to an end, you may be moving office or opening a new site, or you may want your internet and phones from a single carrier that only works with businesses.

Summit Internet has built, owned and operated its own network for 26 years, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard. We supply Ethernet over fibre, business nbn with a static IP, SIP trunks, a hosted PBX, Microsoft Teams Calling and 1300 and 1800 numbers.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Quantum Voice and Data.

How Summit Helps

  • Business fibre on our own network

Summit supplies Ethernet over fibre for businesses that need a dedicated connection. Your traffic runs over a network we build, own and operate, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres.

  • Business nbn with a static IP included

For sites where nbn suits better, Summit's business nbn includes a static IP. Full-fibre nbn services go up to 2000/500 Mbps.

  • SIP trunks for your existing phone system

If you have a PABX you want to keep, Summit's SIP trunks connect it to our network. Start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • A hosted phone system with every feature included

Summit's hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording, and mobile and desktop apps. Handsets can be preconfigured and shipped to you.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your staff already work in Teams, Summit connects it to the phone network through Direct Routing. We do not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep the licensing you already have.

  • 1300 and 1800 numbers

Bring your inbound numbers across and manage them with your other services. Fax to email and on-hold messaging are also available.

  • Voice prioritised on our own connection

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Internet, phones and mobile all arrive on one bill.

  • 4G backup for when a link goes down

Add 4G Backup for automatic failover to Australia's biggest mobile network, which covers 98.8% of the population, and automatic fail-back once your main link returns.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current services, sites, phone numbers and contract end dates, or request a quote and we will work through it with you.

  2. 2 Get a proposal

We recommend the right connection for each site and the right voice setup, whether that is SIP trunks, hosted PBX or Teams Calling.

  3. 3 Install and set up

We connect your sites and configure your phone system, with handsets preconfigured where you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel your old services

Once everything is working on Summit, you arrange cancellation of the remaining services with your previous provider.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Quantum Voice and Data?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Quantum Voice and Data.
Why switch if my Quantum Voice and Data service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually review their provider when a contract is ending, when they move or add an office, or when they want internet and phones from a single business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on the terms of your agreement with Quantum Voice and Data. Check your contract end date and any exit fees, and we can help you time the switch so your new services start as your old contract finishes.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit, including 1300 and 1800 numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing PABX?
Yes. Summit's SIP trunks connect existing phone systems to our network, starting from 2 channels. If you would rather move to the cloud, our hosted PBX is an alternative.
Do you support Microsoft Teams Calling?
Yes, through Direct Routing. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you use the Teams licensing you already have.
Do you offer business fibre?
Yes. Summit supplies Ethernet over fibre and business nbn with a static IP included, with up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn.
What happens if my internet goes down?
Summit's 4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network and fails back automatically when your main connection returns.
