Overview

PlanetComms is a business communications provider based in Bella Vista, in Sydney's Hills District, serving businesses across Australia. It sells and supports business phone systems from vendors including RingCentral, 3CX, Avaya IP Office, Zoom Phone, Yeastar and NEC, along with Teams Calling, business SIP lines and SIP trunks, business nbn and fibre internet, mobile SIM plans, IT services and cyber security.

Businesses review their phones for ordinary reasons: a contract is coming to an end, the office is moving, the phone system is due for replacement, or they would rather have phones, internet and mobile from a single carrier that owns the network underneath them.

Summit Internet is a business-only carrier that has been building its own network for 26 years. We supply a cloud phone system, SIP trunks for the phone system you already have, Microsoft Teams Calling, 1300 and 1800 numbers, business nbn with a static IP and business mobile plans.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with PlanetComms.

How Summit Helps

  • A cloud phone system with every feature included

Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps all included. Handsets can be preconfigured and shipped to you.

  • SIP trunks for the phone system you already own

If your on-premises phone system still does the job, connect it to Summit SIP trunks. Start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volume changes.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

Make and take external calls in Teams through Direct Routing on Summit's voice network. You keep your existing Microsoft licences, as Summit does not resell them.

  • 1300 and 1800 numbers

Bring your inbound 1300 and 1800 numbers across with your phone system, along with fax to email and on-hold messaging.

  • Calls prioritised on Summit internet

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised over other traffic on the connection. Business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included, and Ethernet over fibre is available where you need dedicated capacity.

  • 4G Backup for when the line drops

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, covering 98.8% of the population, then fails back once your main connection returns.

  • Mobiles on the same bill

Business mobile SIM plans sit on one bill with your phones and internet, with one team to call about all of it.

  • Our own network

Summit builds, owns and operates its network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Send us a list of your current services, such as your phone system, SIP lines, numbers, internet connections and mobiles, plus your contract end dates.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend Hosted PBX, SIP trunks for your existing system or Teams Calling, and give you a written quote.

  3. 3 Set up your phones

We configure your new phone system or SIP trunks, with handsets preconfigured and shipped where needed.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current phone service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers are live on Summit and everything is tested, cancel the remaining services with your previous provider.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of PlanetComms?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with PlanetComms.
Why switch if my PlanetComms service is working?
If your current services do everything your business needs, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually look at switching when a contract is ending, they are moving office, their phone system is due for replacement, or they want phones, internet and mobile from one carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with your current provider. Check your contract end date and any early termination terms, and time your switch to the end of the contract where you can.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit, including 1300 and 1800 numbers. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days. Keep your current service active until the port is complete, because only active numbers can be ported.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
In many cases, yes. Compatible on-premises phone systems can connect to Summit SIP trunks. If you would rather move to the cloud, our Hosted PBX replaces the system entirely.
Do you offer Microsoft Teams calling?
Yes. Summit provides Teams Calling through Direct Routing. You will need appropriate Microsoft licences, which Summit does not resell.
Can my internet move too?
Yes. Summit's business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included, and voice traffic is prioritised when your phones and internet are both with Summit.
Can my mobiles move too?
Yes. Summit offers business mobile SIM plans, so your mobiles can sit on the same bill as your phones and internet.
