Overview

Phone Central is an Australian owned business technology provider with offices in Sydney and on the Gold Coast. It sells iPECS Cloud and iPECS On Premise business phone systems, contact centre solutions, AI on-hold and virtual receptionist services, business mobile plans, nbn and internet services, as well as printers, surveillance and managed IT.

Businesses often review their phone provider when a contract ends, when they move office, when an on-site phone system is due for replacement, or when they want their phones and internet from one carrier that focuses only on business customers.

Summit Internet is a business-only carrier that has served Australian businesses for 26 years. We provide a Hosted PBX cloud phone system, SIP trunks for phone systems you already own, 1300 and 1800 numbers, business nbn with a static IP and business mobile plans, all on a network we build, own and operate.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Phone Central.

How Summit Helps

  • A cloud phone system with every feature included

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email and call recording. There are no feature tiers to work through.

  • SIP trunks for the system you already own

If you have an on-premises phone system that still suits you, SIP trunks connect it to Summit's network. Start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Handsets ready to plug in

If you move to Hosted PBX, we can preconfigure your desk handsets and ship them ready to plug in, so your team is taking calls on the new system from day one.

  • Answer calls anywhere

Hosted PBX includes mobile and desktop apps, so staff can answer the business line from a laptop or phone when they are out of the office or working from home.

  • Call queues and on-hold messaging

For teams that handle a steady flow of inbound calls, call queues, ring groups and on-hold messaging help callers reach the right person. 1300 and 1800 numbers can land directly on your queues.

  • Internet built for voice

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised so calls stay clear when the office is busy. Choose business nbn with a static IP included, up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn, or Ethernet over fibre.

  • Keep taking calls if the line drops

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back when your main service returns.

  • Mobiles on the same bill

Business mobile SIM plans sit on the same bill as your internet and phones, so one provider looks after the whole lot.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your phone numbers, your current iPECS setup, how calls are routed, your internet connection and your mobiles. We map out what needs to move.

  2. 2 Get a clear quote

We recommend Hosted PBX or SIP trunks, plus internet, backup and mobiles to match how your business works.

  3. 3 Set up the new service

We build your call flows, greetings, ring groups and queues on Summit before anything changes, and ship preconfigured handsets if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port request. Keep your Phone Central service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Go live and tidy up

Once calls are arriving on Summit, you can arrange to close the old services in line with your existing agreement.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Phone Central?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Phone Central.
Why switch if my Phone Central service is working?
If your current service does everything you need, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, when they are moving office, when an on-site phone system is due for replacement, or when they want phones and internet from one business carrier.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers, including 1300 and 1800 numbers, can generally be ported to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.
How long does porting take?
The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days. We set up your new service before the port so calls keep flowing.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Phone Central, including any equipment or rental terms. Check your contract, and if there is a fixed term, we can time the switch to line up with its end date.
Can I keep using my iPECS phone system?
If you own an on-premises system and want to keep it, ask us whether it can connect to Summit using SIP trunks. If you would rather move to the cloud, Hosted PBX includes every feature from $10 per user per month.
Can staff answer calls on their mobiles?
Yes. Hosted PBX includes mobile and desktop apps, and ring groups and call queues let calls reach staff wherever they are working.
Do I have to take Summit internet as well?
No. You can take phones on their own. When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised on the connection, which is why many businesses choose both.
Can I use Microsoft Teams for calls?
Yes. Summit connects your numbers to Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing. We do not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep your existing licensing.
