Overview

PBX Blue is a Sydney-based provider of cloud-hosted phone systems for businesses, built on 3CX and offered as a managed PBX-as-a-Service.

Businesses review their phone provider for plenty of reasons: a contract coming to an end, a move to a new office, a growing team, or simply wanting internet and phones from the same carrier so there is one bill and one place to call when something needs attention. Some prefer a provider that only serves businesses.

Summit offers a Hosted PBX cloud phone system with every feature included, SIP trunks for businesses that want to keep their existing phone system, and business nbn with a static IP included. When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised across it.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with PBX Blue.

How Summit Helps

  • A cloud phone system with everything included

Summit's Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording, and mobile and desktop apps. There are no feature add-ons to work through.

  • SIP trunks if you want to keep your phone system

If your business would rather keep running its own phone system, Summit's SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Keep your existing numbers

Summit can port your existing business numbers across, so customers keep calling the numbers they already know. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.

  • Phones and internet from one carrier

Summit builds, owns and operates its own network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres. Take your business nbn or Ethernet over fibre from Summit too, and your voice traffic is prioritised with QoS across the same connection.

  • Handsets ready to plug in

Handsets can be preconfigured and shipped, so your team can plug them in and start taking calls without a technician on site.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your staff live in Teams, Summit can connect real phone numbers to it through Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep your existing licensing arrangements.

  • Inbound numbers and extras

Summit provides 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging, all managed alongside the rest of your phone services.

  • A backup path for your calls

Add 4G Backup and your connection fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, then fails back automatically when your main service returns.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share how many users, numbers and sites you have, and whether you want a hosted phone system, SIP trunks for your own system, or Teams Calling.

  2. 2 Get a clear proposal

We recommend the right setup and send a quote covering phones, numbers and, if you want it, internet.

  3. 3 Prepare your new service

We configure your system, ring groups and call flows, and can preconfigure and ship handsets before cutover.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Go live

Calls start arriving on your Summit service, and you can then arrange to close your old service.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of PBX Blue?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with PBX Blue.
Why switch if my PBX Blue service is working?
If your current phone system does everything your business needs, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually review their provider when a contract is ending, when they move or open an office, or when they want phones and internet from one carrier on one bill.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with your current provider. Check your terms for any minimum term or exit fees, and where possible time your switch to the end of your contract.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, in most cases Summit can port your existing numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
I have a hosted 3CX system. What would I move to?
Most businesses in that position move to Summit's Hosted PBX, which includes auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording, and mobile and desktop apps, all included from $10 per user per month.
Can I keep my own phone system and just change the lines?
Yes. If you run your own phone system, Summit's SIP trunks start from 2 channels and can scale up or down as you need.
Do I need to take my internet from Summit as well?
No, our phone services work over other connections. When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS across the connection, and everything sits on one bill.
Can you supply handsets?
Yes. Handsets can be preconfigured and shipped, so they are ready to plug in when you go live.
Can I use Microsoft Teams for calls?
Yes. Summit provides Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences.
