Overview

Origin Net is a privately owned, Sydney-based provider that describes itself as a licensed telecommunications carrier supplying connectivity to corporate and wholesale clients across Australia. Its listed services include fibre, fixed wireless, corporate Ethernet, nbn, mobile data, IP transit and colocation, alongside hosted voice and SIP.

Businesses review their provider for ordinary reasons: a contract is ending, the office is moving, a new site needs connecting, or they want internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers business nbn with a static IP, Ethernet over fibre, fixed wireless across Melbourne and regional Victoria and 4G Backup, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Origin Net.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Our services are designed for businesses, and we have been connecting them for 26 years.

  • Business nbn With a Static IP

Business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included, and speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn.

  • Ethernet Over Fibre for Dedicated Capacity

For sites that need more than an nbn service, Ethernet over fibre gives you a dedicated business connection on our network.

  • Fixed Wireless in Melbourne and Regional Victoria

For premises in Melbourne and regional Victoria, Summit also offers fixed wireless. Check your coverage.

  • Our Own Network, With DDoS Protection

Summit builds, owns and operates its network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres. DDoS protection is included as standard.

  • Backup That Fails Over Automatically

4G Backup switches to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) if your primary link drops, and fails back automatically when it returns. We also offer 4G Static IP services.

  • Phones on the Same Network

Add a Hosted PBX cloud phone system from $10 per user per month, or SIP trunks for the phone system you already own. When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS.

  • One Bill for Internet, Phones and Mobile

Internet, phones and business mobile SIM plans can all sit on a single Summit bill.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current services, sites and contract end dates, and we will map out the equivalent Summit services.

  2. 2 Get a clear quote

We recommend the right connection for each site, whether that is business nbn, Ethernet over fibre or, in Melbourne and regional Victoria, fixed wireless, and put it in writing.

  3. 3 Install and test

We aim to install and test your Summit connection while your existing service is still running.

  4. 4 Move across

We help you cut over your network and, if you are moving phones too, lodge the port for your numbers. Keep the old service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once everything is working on Summit, you cancel your previous services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Origin Net?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Origin Net.
Why switch if my Origin Net service is working?
If your current service does everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually review their provider when a contract is ending, when they move or add a site, or when they want internet and phones from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Origin Net. Check your contract end date and any early termination terms, and we can time your switch to line up with the end of your contract.
Is Summit's fixed wireless available at my address?
Summit's fixed wireless is available in Melbourne and regional Victoria only. Check your coverage to see if your premises is in our footprint. Outside that area, we offer business nbn and Ethernet over fibre.
Do you include a static IP?
Yes. A static IP is included with business nbn from Summit.
What happens if my connection goes down?
4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network and fails back automatically when your primary connection returns.
Can you also take over our phones?
Yes. We offer a Hosted PBX cloud phone system, SIP trunks, Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing and 1300 and 1800 numbers. Existing numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Will there be downtime during the switch?
We plan the switch so your Summit connection can be installed and tested while your existing service is still running, then cut over once it is working.
