Overview

ORCONNECT is the trading name of OPENREACH Pty Ltd, a telco based in West Wodonga, Victoria. It sells nbn internet plans to homes and small businesses, a cloud PBX service it calls Business Voice, and mobile plans for individuals and businesses.

There are plenty of good reasons to review a provider without anything being wrong. Your plan or agreement is coming up for renewal. You are moving office or opening a second site. You want your internet and phones from one carrier, with voice traffic prioritised end to end. Or you would simply rather deal with a provider whose whole network and team are built around business customers.

Summit Internet is a business-only carrier. We build, own and operate our own network with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres, and we supply Business nbn, Ethernet over fibre, fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria, a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and business mobile plans to Australian businesses.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with ORCONNECT.

How Summit Helps

  • Business nbn With a Static IP Included

Our Business nbn plans are available nationally, with a static IP included and speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. Every service sits behind DDoS protection as standard.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month, with auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps all included. We can preconfigure handsets and ship them to your office.

  • Keep the Numbers Your Customers Know

We port your existing phone numbers across to Summit, so your customers keep calling the same numbers. We also supply 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging.

  • SIP Trunks if You Run Your Own Phone System

If you would rather keep an on-premises PBX, our SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volume changes.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your team lives in Microsoft Teams, we can connect it to the phone network with Teams Calling via Direct Routing. You keep your existing Microsoft licences, as Summit does not resell them.

  • Business Mobile Plans on the Same Bill

Move your team's SIMs to Summit's business mobile plans and see internet, phones and mobile together on one bill.

  • 4G Backup for When the Line Drops

Add 4G Backup and your site fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, then fails back automatically once your main service returns.

  • Fixed Wireless in Melbourne and Regional Victoria

If your business is in Melbourne or regional Victoria, ask about Summit fixed wireless: symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps across 500+ suburbs, installed in 10 business days or the first month is free.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Let us know which ORCONNECT services you use, such as nbn, Business Voice seats and mobile SIMs, plus how many numbers you have and when your current agreement ends.

  2. 2 Get a tailored quote

We recommend the right internet, phone and mobile setup for each site and give you a clear quote.

  3. 3 Install and set up

We connect your new internet service and configure your Hosted PBX, with handsets preconfigured and shipped if you need them.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your ORCONNECT services active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers are live on Summit and everything is working, you cancel any remaining ORCONNECT services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of ORCONNECT?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with ORCONNECT or OPENREACH Pty Ltd.
Why switch if my ORCONNECT service is working?
If your current services do everything your business needs, there may be no reason to switch. Many businesses review their provider when a plan comes up for renewal, when they move office, or when they want internet, phones and mobile from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on the terms of your agreement with ORCONNECT. Check your agreement before you switch, and time the move to the end of any contract term to avoid early termination costs.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, in most cases your existing numbers can be ported to Summit. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and ports involving multiple numbers can take up to 30 days. Keep your ORCONNECT services active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.
Can I move my nbn service to Summit?
Yes. Our Business nbn is available nationally and includes a static IP, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn.
I use ORCONNECT Business Voice. What would I move to?
Most cloud PBX users move to our Hosted PBX, which starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included. If you run your own phone system, our SIP trunks are the alternative.
Can I move my mobile SIMs too?
Yes. Summit offers business mobile SIM plans, so your mobiles can sit on the same bill as your internet and phones.
Do you offer fixed wireless near Wodonga?
Summit fixed wireless covers Melbourne and regional Victoria across 500+ suburbs. Check your coverage to see whether it reaches your address. Business nbn is available nationally.
