Overview

OntheNet (On the Net) is a Gold Coast based provider, established in 1995, that sells to businesses and homes. Its business range includes Business nbn, BusinessFibre, private links, managed SD-WAN, business phone and VoIP services, and data centre co-location. Its core network covers Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Northern Rivers, and its business nbn services are sold Australia-wide. OntheNet was acquired by ASX-listed Vonex in October 2022, and Vonex was in turn acquired by MaxoTel in October 2025.

There are plenty of good reasons to review a provider without anything being wrong. A contract is coming to an end. You are moving office or opening a new site. You want your internet and phones from one carrier with voice traffic prioritised end to end. Or you would simply rather deal with a provider that sells only to businesses.

Summit Internet is a business-only carrier. We build, own and operate our own network with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres, and we supply Business nbn, Ethernet over fibre, 4G backup, a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and business mobile plans to Australian businesses.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with On the Net, OntheNet, Vonex or MaxoTel.

How Summit Helps

  • Business nbn With a Static IP Included

Our Business nbn plans are available nationally, with a static IP included and speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. If your office is outside south-east Queensland, that makes no difference to us.

  • Dedicated Fibre for Sites That Have Outgrown nbn

If you are on a business fibre service today, Ethernet over fibre is available from Summit as a step up from nbn. We will scope the right option for each of your sites.

  • DDoS Protection as Standard

Every Summit internet service sits behind DDoS protection. It is part of how our network is built, not an add-on you have to remember to order.

  • 4G Backup That Fails Over Automatically

4G Backup switches your site to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) if your main link drops, then fails back automatically when it returns. A 4G Static IP is also available where you need a fixed address on mobile.

  • Fixed Wireless in Melbourne and Regional Victoria

If you have a site in Melbourne or regional Victoria, our fixed wireless network covers 500+ suburbs with symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps, installed in 10 business days or the first month is free. Check your coverage for each address.

  • Phones That Run Over Your Summit Connection

Add our Hosted PBX, from $10 per user per month with every feature included, or SIP trunks for the phone system you already have. When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised across the connection.

  • Internet, Phones and Mobile on One Bill

Add business mobile SIM plans and everything sits with one carrier, on one bill, with one team to call.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Send us a recent bill or a list of your services: nbn or fibre connections at each site, any backup links, and your phones. We will map each one to a Summit equivalent.

  2. 2 Get a clear quote

We recommend the right connection for each site and show you exactly what it costs. Request a quote to get started.

  3. 3 Install your new connection

We connect your Summit service alongside your existing one, so you can test it before anything is switched off.

  4. 4 Move your phones if you want to

If you are bringing phones across too, we lodge the port of your numbers. Keep your current phone service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once everything is live with Summit and working, you cancel the remaining services with your old provider.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of On the Net?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with On the Net (OntheNet), Vonex or MaxoTel.
Why switch if my On the Net service is working?
If your current service does everything your business needs, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually review their provider when a contract is ending, when they move or add a site, or when they want internet and phones from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on the terms of your agreement with your current provider. Check your contract end date and any early termination fees, and we can time your switch to line up with the end of your term.
Can I get Business nbn from Summit outside Victoria?
Yes. Our Business nbn is available nationally, with a static IP included. Fixed wireless is the only Summit service limited to Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Do I get a static IP address?
Yes. A static IP is included with Summit Business nbn. We also offer a 4G Static IP for sites that need a fixed address on mobile.
What happens if my connection goes down?
Add 4G Backup and your site fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage), then fails back automatically when your main link returns.
Can I move my phones to Summit as well?
Yes. We offer a Hosted PBX cloud phone system, SIP trunks for existing phone systems, Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing, and 1300 and 1800 numbers. We can port your existing numbers; the ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Will my internet be down while I switch?
We install your Summit connection before you cancel your existing service, so you can test it first and plan the cutover for a time that suits your business.
