Overview

OMNIconnect is a privately owned, licensed telecommunications carrier established in 1997, operating a data centre in Carrum Downs, Victoria. It sells business internet over its own fibre, copper and fixed wireless network as well as nbn and Telstra, along with private IP networks (WAN), colocation, VPS cloud, web hosting and domain and email packages.

Plenty of businesses review their connectivity from time to time, whatever their provider. The usual triggers are a contract coming to an end, a move to a new office, adding a site, or wanting internet, phones and mobiles handled by one carrier on one bill. Some businesses also want a provider that only serves businesses.

Summit Internet has been connecting Australian businesses for 26 years. We build, own and operate our own network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard. We supply business nbn with a static IP included, Ethernet over fibre, fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria, and 4G backup, plus a cloud phone system if you want voice from the same carrier.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with OMNIconnect.

How Summit Helps

  • Business nbn with a static IP included

Our business nbn plans are available nationally and include a static IP, so remote access, VPNs and hosted services keep working. On full-fibre nbn, speeds go up to 2000/500 Mbps.

  • Ethernet over fibre for sites that need more

When a site needs more than nbn can offer, Ethernet over fibre is the step up. We will scope the right option for each location as part of your quote.

  • Fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria

Summit runs its own fixed wireless network across 500+ suburbs in Melbourne and regional Victoria, with symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps. It is installed in 10 business days or the first month is free. Check your coverage to see if your address is in range.

  • 4G backup that fails over by itself

4G Backup switches your connection to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) automatically if your primary link drops, then fails back automatically when it returns.

  • Our own network, with DDoS protection as standard

Summit builds, owns and operates its own network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres. Every service includes DDoS protection as standard.

  • Phones on the same connection

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included, or keep your existing phone system with SIP trunks. When your internet is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised.

  • One carrier, one bill

Internet, phones and business mobile plans can all sit on a single Summit bill, so there is one account to manage and one carrier to call.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

List your current internet services, sites and any static IPs, and note when your OMNIconnect agreement ends.

  2. 2 We design and quote

We recommend business nbn, Ethernet over fibre, fixed wireless or a mix for each site, with 4G backup where it matters, and give you a written quote.

  3. 3 We schedule the install

We book the new connection to go live before your old service is cancelled, so you can cut over when it suits you.

  4. 4 Cut over and test

We help you move your router and network to the new service, then confirm everything is working.

  5. 5 Cancel the old service

Once you are happy, give notice to your old provider in line with your agreement.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of OMNIconnect?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with OMNIconnect in any way.
Why switch if my OMNIconnect service is working?
If your current service does everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, when they are moving or adding sites, or when they want internet, phones and mobiles from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on the terms of your OMNIconnect agreement. Check your contract end date and any exit fees, and we can time your Summit installation to line up with the end of your term.
Will I lose internet during the switch?
We aim to have your new Summit service installed and tested before your old service is cancelled, so you can cut over at a time that suits you.
Can I keep my static IP addresses?
IP addresses generally belong to the provider that issued them, so your Summit service will come with new addresses. Our business nbn plans include a static IP, and we can help you plan updates to firewalls, VPNs and remote access before cutover.
Is Summit's fixed wireless available at my address?
Summit's fixed wireless covers 500+ suburbs across Melbourne and regional Victoria. You can check your coverage online, or we can confirm it with your quote.
What if I have colocation or hosting with OMNIconnect?
Moving your internet to Summit does not require you to move other services. Tell us what you have in place and we will plan the internet change around it.
Can Summit supply phones as well as internet?
Yes. We offer Hosted PBX, SIP trunks, Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing and 1300 and 1800 numbers, all on the same bill as your internet.
