Overview

Novel Telecom is an Australian telecommunications and call centre solutions provider. It sells telephone line plans, IP phones and VoIP calling plans with Yealink handsets, and nbn data, bundle and voice-only plans, alongside outsourced call centre services.

Businesses review their phone provider for plenty of ordinary reasons: a contract is coming to an end, the office is moving, the team has outgrown a handful of phone lines, or they want internet and phones from one carrier on one bill. Some simply want a provider that only serves businesses.

Summit offers a Hosted PBX cloud phone system with every feature included, SIP trunks for phone systems you already own, 1300 and 1800 numbers and business nbn with a static IP included. We can port your existing numbers so customers keep calling the same place.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Novel Telecom.

How Summit Helps

  • A complete cloud phone system

Summit's Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. There are no feature tiers to work through.

  • Keep the phone system you already have

If you own an on-premises PBX, SIP trunks connect it to Summit's network. Start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • Handsets ready to plug in

If you use IP desk phones today, Summit can preconfigure handsets and ship them to you, so staff plug them in and start taking calls.

  • Your numbers come with you

We port your existing local numbers and 1300 or 1800 numbers to Summit, so your listings, signage and email signatures stay correct.

  • Business nbn with a static IP

Summit's business nbn includes a static IP, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. Where you need more, Ethernet over fibre is available.

  • Voice traffic prioritised on Summit internet

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS ahead of other traffic on the connection.

  • A backup when the line drops

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back when your main service returns.

  • One bill for internet, phones and mobile

Put your internet, phone system and business mobile SIMs with one carrier and one invoice.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current phone lines, numbers, handsets and internet service, and how your team takes calls today.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend Hosted PBX or SIP trunks, plus business nbn if it suits, and give you a clear quote.

  3. 3 Set up and test

We build your call flows, auto attendant and ring groups, and preconfigure any handsets before cutover.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your Novel Telecom service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old service

Once your numbers are live on Summit, you can arrange to close your old account.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Novel Telecom?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Novel Telecom.
Why switch if my Novel Telecom service is working?
If your current service does everything you need, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually look around when a contract is ending, they are moving office, they need more phone features such as call queues or call recording, or they want internet and phones from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on the terms of your agreement with Novel Telecom. Check your contract end date and any early termination fees, and time your switch to the end of the contract where you can. We are happy to plan the cutover around that date.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, in most cases. We port your existing local numbers and 1300 or 1800 numbers to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port is complete, because only active numbers can be ported.
How long does number porting take?
The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days. We will keep you updated as the port progresses.
Can I keep my existing IP phones?
Tell us the models you have and we will check whether they can be used with Summit. Summit can also supply handsets preconfigured and ready to plug in.
Do I need to move my internet to Summit as well?
No. Summit's Hosted PBX and SIP trunks work over other internet connections. If your internet is also with Summit, voice traffic is prioritised, and everything sits on one bill.
Does Summit support Microsoft Teams calling?
Yes. We connect Microsoft Teams to the phone network through Direct Routing. Summit does not resell Microsoft licences, so you keep those with your existing Microsoft provider.
