Overview

Norcom Communications sells cloud-based business phone systems to small businesses in Australia, with features such as voicemail to email, auto attendant and IVR, call forwarding, call analytics, CRM integrations and an AI voice assistant, managed through an online portal.

Businesses review their phone provider for plenty of reasons: a contract is ending, the team is moving office, or they want their phones and the internet connection those phones depend on to come from one carrier that deals only with businesses.

Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks and Microsoft Teams Calling, plus business nbn with a static IP, 4G backup and business mobiles, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Norcom Communications.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Our Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included: auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. Handsets can be preconfigured and shipped to you.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

If you have an on-premises phone system you want to keep, our SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volume changes.

  • Microsoft Teams Calling

If your team already lives in Microsoft Teams, we connect it to the phone network via Direct Routing so staff make and take calls from Teams. We do not resell Microsoft licences; you keep the ones you have.

  • Keep Your Numbers

We port your existing business numbers across to Summit, so customers keep calling the numbers they already know. We also provide 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging.

  • Voice That Is Prioritised on Your Connection

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS, so calls are not competing with downloads and backups on the same link.

  • Internet and Backup From the Same Carrier

Business nbn comes with a static IP included, up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. Add 4G Backup for automatic failover to Australia's biggest mobile network, with automatic fail-back when the main line returns.

  • One Bill for Internet, Phones and Mobile

Internet, phones and business mobile SIM plans all sit on one Summit bill, with one carrier to call about any of it.

How It Works

  1. 1 Talk to us about your setup

Tell us how many users and numbers you have, whether you use a desk phone, softphone or Teams, and when your current agreement ends.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend Hosted PBX, SIP trunks or Teams Calling to suit how your team works, and quote the internet connection alongside it if you want it.

  3. 3 We build your system

We configure your call flows, ring groups, queues and voicemail, and can preconfigure and ship handsets before cutover.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Go live

Once the port completes your calls arrive on Summit, and you can then cancel the old service.

Why Norcom Communications Customers Choose Summit

  • 01

    A Licensed Carrier

Summit holds ACMA Carrier Licence #388 and has been in business since August 2000. We build, own and operate our own network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres.

  • 02

    Phones and Internet Together

Your phone system is only as good as the connection it runs on. With Summit, both come from the same carrier, and voice is prioritised on that connection.

  • 03

    Business Only

We do not sell residential services, so our products and support are set up for businesses.

  • 04

    Room to Grow

Start with a few users or a couple of SIP channels and scale up or down as your business changes, with 1300 and 1800 numbers, mobiles and backup available when you need them.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Norcom Communications?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Norcom Communications.
Why switch if my Norcom Communications service is working?
If your current phone system does everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, they are moving office, or they want their phones and internet from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with your current provider. Check your contract terms, and if there is a minimum term, we can time your switch so it lines up with the end of it.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing handsets?
It depends on the model. Tell us what you have and we will confirm whether it can be used with our Hosted PBX, or we can preconfigure and ship new handsets.
Do I have to move my internet to Summit as well?
No. Our phone services work over other internet connections. If your connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS.
What features does Summit's cloud phone system include?
Every feature is included from $10 per user per month: auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps.
Do you work with Microsoft Teams?
Yes. We provide Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing. We do not resell Microsoft licences.
Do you serve businesses outside Melbourne?
Yes. Our phone services and business nbn are available to Australian businesses nationally. Fixed wireless is only available in Melbourne and regional Victoria.
