Overview

My FoneTel is a Perth-based company that specialises in business phone systems and unified VoIP communications. Its website lists on-premise phone systems from LG iPECS and NEC, 3CX cloud phone systems, business SIP trunks, messages on hold, business nbn and 4G backup internet.

There are plenty of good reasons to review a phone provider even when nothing is wrong. Your agreement may be coming to an end, your on-premise system may be due for replacement, you may be moving office, or you may simply want internet, phones and mobile from one carrier with a single bill and a single point of contact.

Summit offers a cloud phone system with every feature included, SIP trunks for businesses keeping their existing phone system, and business nbn with a static IP included. When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised across it.

Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with My FoneTel.

How Summit Helps

  • A cloud phone system with everything included

Summit's Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month, with auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps all included. There are no feature tiers to work through.

  • SIP trunks for the phone system you already own

If you have an on-premise system you want to keep, Summit's SIP trunks start from two channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change. You keep the handsets your staff already know.

  • Keep your existing numbers

Summit can port your existing business numbers, including 1300 and 1800 numbers, so customers keep calling the numbers they already have. We manage the port request with the losing provider for you.

  • Internet and voice from one carrier

Pair your phones with business nbn, up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn with a static IP included, or Ethernet over fibre. With both on Summit, voice traffic is prioritised so calls stay clear when the office is busy.

  • Backup that keeps calls flowing

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, and fails back automatically once your main connection returns.

  • Inbound numbers and on-hold messaging

Summit provides 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging, so the features your callers hear today carry across.

  • Microsoft Teams calling

If your team already lives in Teams, Summit connects calling through Direct Routing, so staff can make and take external calls from Teams. Your Microsoft licences stay with your current Microsoft provider.

  • Handsets ready to plug in

For Hosted PBX customers, handsets can be preconfigured and shipped so they work as soon as they are plugged in, which keeps the changeover simple for your staff.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current phone system, number of users or channels, your numbers and your contract end date. We use this to recommend Hosted PBX, SIP trunks or Teams calling.

  2. 2 Get a clear quote

We send a written proposal covering phones, internet and backup, so you can compare it against your current arrangement before you commit.

  3. 3 Set up your new service

We build your call flows, ring groups and on-hold messaging, and preconfigure handsets or SIP trunks ready for cutover.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port request. Keep your existing service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Go live

Once the port completes your calls arrive on Summit, and you can then close your old services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of My FoneTel?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with My FoneTel in any way.
Why switch if my My FoneTel service is working?
If your current service does everything you need, there may be no reason to change. Businesses usually review their provider when a contract is ending, an on-premise phone system needs replacing, they are moving office, or they want internet and phones from one carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on the terms of your agreement with My FoneTel, including any equipment or lease arrangements. Check your contract before you switch. Many businesses time the move to their contract end date to avoid early termination costs.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, in most cases your existing numbers, including 1300 and 1800 numbers, can be ported to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, as only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
Often, yes. If your on-premise system supports SIP, Summit's SIP trunks can connect it to our network, starting from two channels. If it is due for replacement, our Hosted PBX is the alternative.
What does Summit's Hosted PBX include?
Every feature is included from $10 per user per month: auto attendant and IVR, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording, and mobile and desktop apps.
Do I need Summit internet to use Summit phones?
No. Summit voice services work over other internet connections. When your internet is also with Summit, voice traffic is prioritised across our network.
Can Summit provide our internet as well?
Yes. Summit provides business nbn nationally with a static IP included, Ethernet over fibre and 4G Backup, so phones and internet can sit on one bill.
