Overview

Maxinet (Maxi Internet Services) describes itself as an independent telecommunications, data and technology provider for small and medium businesses. Its business internet range covers fibre to CBD buildings, Mid-Band Ethernet, Premium DSL, fixed wireless and nbn, and its business voice range covers VoIP and SIP trunks, Hosted PBX and 13, 1300 and 1800 numbers. It also offers IT support and web services.

Businesses review their provider for plenty of reasons: a contract is coming to an end, the business is moving office, or they want internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses, so one network and one provider are responsible for the whole connection.

Summit offers business nbn, Ethernet over fibre, fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria, and 4G backup, together with a cloud phone system, SIP trunks, Microsoft Teams Calling and inbound numbers, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Maxinet.

How Summit Helps

  • A Licensed, Business-Only Carrier

Summit holds ACMA Carrier Licence #388 and does not sell residential services. We have been connecting Australian businesses for 26 years, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard.

  • Fibre and Ethernet for Your Office

If your office runs on a dedicated fibre or Ethernet service today, Ethernet over fibre gives you a business-grade connection on Summit's own network. We will scope it against your building and your requirements.

  • Business nbn With a Static IP Included

For sites on the nbn, Business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included, and up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn.

  • Fixed Wireless in Melbourne and Regional Victoria

If your business is in Melbourne or regional Victoria, Summit fixed wireless runs on our own network across 500+ suburbs, with symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps. It is installed in 10 business days or the first month is free. Check your address.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

If your own PBX connects to SIP trunks today, Summit SIP trunks can take over. They start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Moving from a hosted phone system? Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. We can preconfigure your handsets and ship them to you.

  • 1300 and 1800 Numbers

Bring your 1300 and 1800 numbers across, and add fax to email and on-hold messaging alongside your phone system.

  • 4G Backup and One Bill

4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network if your main link drops, and fails back when it returns. Internet, phones and business mobile plans all sit on one bill.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current Maxinet services, your phone numbers, how many users and sites you have and when your agreement ends.

  2. 2 Get a quote

We recommend the right internet connection and phone setup for each site and give you a clear quote.

  3. 3 Install the connection

We install your Summit internet service while your existing services keep running, so there is no gap.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port of your existing numbers. Keep your current phone service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers have ported and everything is working, you cancel your remaining Maxinet services.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Maxinet?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Maxinet in any way.
Why switch if my Maxinet service is working?
If your current services do everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually look at Summit when a contract is ending, they are moving office, or they want internet and phones from one business-only carrier on its own network.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Maxinet. Check your contract terms, and if there is an exit fee, we can time your switch to line up with the end of your term.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can you take over SIP trunks for my existing phone system?
Yes. Summit SIP trunks work with phone systems you already own, start from 2 channels and scale up or down as needed.
Can I move my 1300 or 1800 number?
Yes. Inbound 1300 and 1800 numbers can be ported to Summit and managed alongside your phone system.
Is Summit internet available outside Melbourne?
Yes. Business nbn and Ethernet over fibre are available nationally. Summit fixed wireless is available in Melbourne and regional Victoria only, and you can check your address.
Will my internet and phones be on one bill?
Yes. Internet, phones and business mobile can all be on one Summit bill.
