Overview

Macquarie Telecom is the telecommunications business of Macquarie Technology Group (ASX: MAQ), which also runs Macquarie Cloud Services, Macquarie Government and Macquarie Data Centres. The listed company changed its name from Macquarie Telecom Group to Macquarie Technology Group in 2023, and Macquarie Telecom continues to trade under its own name. It sells business nbn, Enterprise Ethernet, SD-WAN, voice connectivity and cloud calling, business mobile plans, and cloud and hosting services to Australian businesses.

Businesses review their provider for ordinary reasons: a contract is ending, they are moving office, or they want internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses. If your sites run on business nbn or fibre with SIP voice or a cloud phone system, that review is a good moment to compare.

Summit offers business nbn with a static IP, Ethernet over fibre, fixed wireless across Melbourne and regional Victoria, a cloud phone system, SIP trunks, Microsoft Teams Calling and business mobile, all on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Macquarie Telecom or Macquarie Technology Group.

How Summit Helps

  • A Business-Only Carrier

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.

  • Business nbn With a Static IP

Business nbn comes with a static IP included, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. It is available nationally, so every site can be on the same carrier.

  • Dedicated Fibre for Sites That Need It

For offices that rely on dedicated capacity, Ethernet over fibre runs over our own network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard.

  • SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own

Keeping your existing PBX? SIP trunks start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.

  • A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included

Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. We can preconfigure your handsets and ship them to you.

  • Teams Calling and Inbound Numbers

Make and receive calls in Microsoft Teams through Direct Routing, and keep your 1300 and 1800 numbers, fax to email and on-hold messaging with us.

  • Business Mobile and Automatic Backup

Put your team on business mobile SIM plans on the same bill, and add 4G Backup, which fails over to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) and fails back automatically.

  • Voice Prioritised on Our Network

When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS, so calls are not competing with downloads and cloud backups.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us what you have

Share your current internet services, phone numbers, mobiles and contract end dates, and we will map out the equivalent Summit services.

  2. 2 Get a clear quote

We recommend the right connection, phone system or SIP trunks for each site and put it in writing.

  3. 3 Install and test

We install your Summit internet and set up your phone system while your existing services keep running.

  4. 4 Port your numbers

We lodge the port for your existing numbers. Keep your old service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.

  5. 5 Cancel the old services

Once your numbers have moved and everything is working, you cancel your previous services.

  • As a reseller, we primarily work with Summit’s 4G services and have been very impressed. The plans are affordable, flexible, and well suited to our customers—especially for internet failover solutions. The sales and support teams are responsive and genuinely helpful, which is why we’re proud to partner with Summit Internet. We happily recommend them.Read more

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more

Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Macquarie Telecom?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Macquarie Telecom or Macquarie Technology Group.
Why switch if my Macquarie Telecom service is working?
If your current services do everything you need at a price that suits you, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually talk to us when a contract is ending, when they are moving office, or when they want internet, phones and mobile from one business-only carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Macquarie Telecom. Check your contract end date and any early termination terms, and we can time your switch so the new services start as the old contract ends.
Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, existing numbers can be ported to Summit. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
Can I keep my existing phone system?
Yes. If you have a PBX you want to keep, SIP trunks connect it to our network, starting from 2 channels. If you would rather move to the cloud, Hosted PBX replaces the on-site system.
Do you offer business nbn outside Melbourne?
Yes. Business nbn is available nationally with a static IP included. Fixed wireless is available in Melbourne and regional Victoria only, and you can check your address.
Can you move our 1300 and 1800 numbers?
Yes. We support 1300 and 1800 inbound numbers, along with fax to email and on-hold messaging.
Do you resell Microsoft licences for Teams Calling?
No. We connect Microsoft Teams to the phone network through Direct Routing. Your Microsoft licences stay with your existing Microsoft provider.
Can we move our mobiles too?
Yes. Summit offers business mobile SIM plans, so your mobiles can sit on the same bill as your internet and phones.
