Overview
Luminet designs, installs and supports private dark fibre: dedicated point-to-point fibre that customers run their own equipment over. Its network is centred on Sydney, linking data centres, interconnection points and business sites, and it also offers dedicated A to B links between two sites. Luminet was acquired by ASX-listed Swoop in 2022. In June 2026 Swoop announced a binding agreement to sell Luminet Fibre Pty Ltd, which owns the Melbourne Fibre Project, to Xenith IG Australia Holdings, and in October 2026 it announced a sale of its Sydney fibre assets to the same buyer. Both sales were announced as subject to approval by the Foreign Investment Review Board.
Changes in ownership are a natural point for a business to check that its connectivity still suits it. Other common reasons are a contract coming to an end, a move to new premises, or wanting internet and phones from a single carrier that deals only with businesses.
Dark fibre is a specialist product, and if you run your own network equipment over it, it may remain the right choice. Where what you actually need is a managed business internet service, Summit offers Ethernet over fibre, business nbn with a static IP, 4G backup and a cloud phone system, all running on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Luminet.
How Summit Helps
-
A Business-Only Carrier
Summit does not sell residential services. We work only with businesses, and have been doing so for 26 years.
-
Ethernet Over Fibre for Your Office
For sites that need dedicated capacity delivered as a managed service, Summit offers Ethernet over fibre on our own network. Tell us what your current links do and we will recommend a service to suit.
-
Our Own Network, With DDoS Protection as Standard
Summit builds, owns and operates its own network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres. DDoS protection is included as standard on our services.
-
Business nbn With a Static IP Included
Business nbn comes with a static IP included, with speeds up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn, and is available to Australian businesses nationally. It suits branch offices and smaller sites that do not need dedicated fibre.
-
4G Backup That Fails Over Automatically
4G Backup switches your connection to Australia's biggest mobile network (98.8% population coverage) if your primary link drops, then fails back automatically when it returns.
-
Fixed Wireless in Melbourne and Regional Victoria
If your premises is in our Melbourne or regional Victorian footprint, fixed wireless runs across 500+ suburbs with symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps, installed in 10 business days or your first month is free. Check your address.
-
Phones on the Same Network
If you want to bring your phones across too, Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month with every feature included, or keep your existing phone system with SIP trunks. Voice traffic is prioritised when your internet is also Summit's.
-
One Bill for Internet, Phones and Mobile
Internet, phones and business mobile SIM plans can all sit on one Summit bill, with one carrier to call.

We recently moved our dental practice over to Summit for phone services, and the experience has been excellent from start to finish. The team has been responsive, professional, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire setup process. The transition was smooth, any issues were addressed promptly, and communication was always clear and efficient. Reliable phones and internet are essential for a busy practice like ours, and Summit has delivered exactly that. A special thank you to Michael for his patience and ongoing assistance during the transition. Highly recommend Summit to any business looking for reliable service and great customer support.Read more

After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more
