Overview
Hip Communications describes itself as a small business telco, with a postal address on the Gold Coast in Queensland. It sells business phone and voice services, including hosted phone systems, business numbers and call handling, along with internet and data connections and unified communications that combine voice, video and messaging.
Businesses review their provider for plenty of reasons: a contract is coming to an end, they are moving office, the team has grown, or they want internet and phones from one carrier that deals only with businesses, so one network and one provider is responsible for both.
Summit offers a cloud phone system, SIP trunks for the phone system you already own, Microsoft Teams Calling and inbound numbers, together with business internet on a network we build, own and operate. Summit Internet is an independent carrier and is not affiliated with Hip Communications.
How Summit Helps
-
A Business-Only Carrier
Summit does not sell residential services. Every product, plan and support process is built around what businesses need, and we have been doing it for 26 years.
-
A Cloud Phone System With Every Feature Included
Moving from a hosted phone system? Hosted PBX starts from $10 per user per month and includes auto attendant, ring groups, call queues, voicemail to email, call recording and mobile and desktop apps. We can preconfigure your handsets and ship them to you.
-
SIP Trunks for the Phone System You Already Own
If you run your own phone system, Summit SIP trunks connect it to the phone network. They start from 2 channels and scale up or down as your call volumes change.
-
Microsoft Teams Calling
If your team already works in Teams, Teams Calling connects it to the phone network through Direct Routing, so staff make and take calls on their business numbers from Teams. You keep buying your Microsoft licences as you do now.
-
1300 and 1800 Numbers, Fax to Email and On-Hold Messaging
Bring your business numbers across, including 1300 and 1800 numbers, and add fax to email and on-hold messaging alongside your phone system.
-
Business Internet With a Static IP
Business nbn comes with a static IP included, up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn. We also offer Ethernet over fibre, and in Melbourne and regional Victoria, fixed wireless across 500+ suburbs.
-
Voice Prioritised When the Internet Is Ours Too
When your internet connection is also Summit's, voice traffic is prioritised with QoS. Our network has Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres and DDoS protection as standard, and 4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, with 98.8% population coverage, then fails back when your main service returns.
-
Phones, Internet and Mobile on One Bill
Add business mobile SIM plans and your internet, phones and mobiles arrive on one bill from one carrier.

Port your numbers
We port your existing numbers across. Keep your current service active until the port completes, because only active numbers can be ported. The ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, and multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
- 5 Cancel once you are live

When your numbers have moved and your calls and internet are working on Summit, you close the old account.

We recently moved our dental practice over to Summit for phone services, and the experience has been excellent from start to finish. The team has been responsive, professional, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire setup process. The transition was smooth, any issues were addressed promptly, and communication was always clear and efficient. Reliable phones and internet are essential for a busy practice like ours, and Summit has delivered exactly that. A special thank you to Michael for his patience and ongoing assistance during the transition. Highly recommend Summit to any business looking for reliable service and great customer support.Read more

After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Whole process took less than a week, and is super cost effective. Highly recommend.Read more
