Overview

Globalgig is a trading brand of iGEM Communications and is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. It describes itself as a managed security and network services provider for enterprises, selling internet, private networking, managed SD-WAN, 4G and 5G wireless connectivity for primary, backup and out-of-band access, IoT connectivity and SIM management, along with voice services. It lists an Asia Pacific wireless support line on an Australian 1300 number, and in earlier years sold mobile data plans in Australia.

Businesses review their connectivity for plenty of ordinary reasons: a contract coming to an end, a move to a new office, a site that needs a fixed connection rather than relying on mobile data, or simply wanting internet, backup and mobile from one Australian carrier with one bill and one team to call.

Summit Internet offers business nbn with a static IP included, Ethernet over fibre, 4G Backup with automatic failover, 4G Static IP services and business mobile SIM plans. In Melbourne and regional Victoria we also run our own fixed wireless network.

Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier and is not affiliated with Globalgig or iGEM Communications.

How Summit Helps

  • A fixed primary connection for each site

Business nbn is available nationally, up to 2000/500 Mbps on full-fibre nbn, with a static IP included. Sites that need dedicated bandwidth can step up to Ethernet over fibre.

  • 4G Backup that switches over by itself

If your primary link drops, Summit's 4G Backup fails over automatically to Australia's biggest mobile network, which covers 98.8% of the population. When the primary link returns it fails back automatically, so nobody has to touch the router.

  • 4G Static IP for remote and temporary sites

Where a fixed line is not practical, a 4G service with a static IP keeps remote access, cameras and site equipment reachable at a known address.

  • Our own network, not a reseller layer

Summit builds, owns and operates its network, with Points of Presence in NEXTDC data centres. DDoS protection comes as standard.

  • Fixed wireless in Melbourne and regional Victoria

Across 500+ suburbs, Summit's fixed wireless delivers symmetric speeds from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps, installed in 10 business days or the first month is free. Check your address to see if it reaches you.

  • Business mobile on the same account

Summit's business mobile SIM plans sit alongside your internet services, so data, backup and mobile all appear on one bill.

  • Phones too, if you want them

If you are also reviewing voice, Summit offers a Hosted PBX from $10 per user per month and SIP trunks from 2 channels. Voice traffic is prioritised when your internet is also with Summit.

  • Built only for business

Summit does not sell residential services. Every product and every support conversation is about keeping a business connected.

How It Works

  1. 1 Tell us about your sites

Share your addresses, what each site uses today (4G/5G data, failover, mobile SIMs) and when your current agreement ends.

  2. 2 Get a clear recommendation

We match each site to the right primary connection and backup, from business nbn or fixed wireless to Ethernet over fibre and 4G.

  3. 3 Plan the cutover

We schedule installation so the new service is live and tested before you cancel anything with your current provider.

  4. 4 Go live

Your router, static IP and failover are configured and checked, with Summit's team on hand during the changeover.

  5. 5 Cancel the old service

Once you are happy everything is running, you close the old service in line with your agreement.

  • After working with another ISP for several months to deliver a critical internet service for a major international sporting event, we were ultimately advised that the required upgrade was unlikely to be completed prior to event week. This left us facing a significant risk to service delivery. After exhausting all other options (and a few sleepless nights) we came across Summit Internet. From the initial conversation, Allan immediately understood the severity of the situation and quickly engaged his technical delivery team. Michael “Radar” was on site within days to assess and finalise a solution. Despite challenging conditions, including large trees and other obstructions, he worked tirelessly to design and implement an alternative approach. Leveraging an adjacent building, a temporary NBN connection, and a wireless link into the comms room, the solution was delivered within 24 hours of the initial site visit. Not only was the outcome faster than expected, but it was also more cost effective and delivered higher speeds than originally promised by the previous ISP. Over the course of the event, the service handled terabytes of data and supported hundreds of concurrent users without a single speed or performance issue. I cannot thank Summit Internet, particularly Allan and Radar enough for their exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering under pressure. Highly recommended.Read more

  • Summit internet recently set my small business up with a local land line number and a soft phone that runs off an app on my mobile - getting my personal phone number off the internet and being able to distinguish between business and personal calls is a game changer. Frequently asked questions

Is Summit Internet part of Globalgig?
No. Summit Internet is an independent Australian carrier holding ACMA Carrier Licence #388. We are not affiliated with Globalgig or its owner, iGEM Communications.
Why switch if my Globalgig service is working?
If your current service does everything you need, there may be no reason to switch. Businesses usually talk to us when a contract is ending, when they move or open a site, or when they want a fixed Australian connection, backup and mobile managed by one carrier.
Will I have to pay to break my contract?
That depends on your agreement with Globalgig. Check your contract terms and end date. Many businesses time the switch so the new Summit service goes live close to when the old agreement finishes.
Can Summit replace 4G or 5G data as my main connection?
For many sites, yes, with a fixed connection instead. Business nbn, Ethernet over fibre or, in Melbourne and regional Victoria, fixed wireless can become the primary link, with 4G Backup taking over automatically if it drops.
Does Summit offer 4G connections with a static IP?
Yes. Summit's 4G Static IP service suits remote sites, temporary sites and equipment that needs to be reachable at a fixed address.
Where is Summit's fixed wireless available?
Fixed wireless is available only in Melbourne and regional Victoria, across 500+ suburbs. Business nbn, Ethernet over fibre and 4G services are available for sites elsewhere in Australia. Check your address.
Will my sites go offline during the switch?
We plan the changeover so the new connection is installed and tested before the old one is cancelled, which keeps downtime to a minimum.
Can Summit look after our phones as well?
Yes. Summit offers Hosted PBX, SIP trunks, Microsoft Teams Calling via Direct Routing and 1300/1800 numbers. Existing numbers can be ported, and the ACMA says single local numbers generally port in 8 to 15 days, while multi-number ports can take up to 30 days.
